My sister used to do that, Bob, clothed, and rather more vulgar wording, at Willard Jr. High in the early 70s, with her friends, whenever the helicopters circled overhead. She also has heartwarming memories of having to evacuate the school when they were tear-gassed.

OK, to all you naysayers out there, whether you like or support OWS or not, it should be disturbing to everyone that when the NYC Mayor ordered OWS dismantled, under cover of darkness, all media/press was banned and those that attempted to cover the story were either turned away or in some cases arrested and in one case beaten by police. Freedom of the press?

yes, I agree.......
I do though have mixed feelings about the encampments, where they (OWS) does not take care of their sanitary situation.......Why, should public money be spent to clean up after them, and provide JOTS?
Sure, protest, sit in, whatever, but, take care of your own mess.

Have you checked out their sanitary situation in person or are you believing what you are told about it?
Along the lines of "have you stopped beating your wife?"
Or "Burning Man is a drug-soaked orgy"?

I noticed that:

http://www.lewrockwell.com/pilger/pilger92.1.html

I also noticed that after 9/11 with the calls for new draconian measures to invade your privacy (due to Homeland Insecurity) the typical response was "if you don't have anything to hide, what are you afraid of?"

Well the same could be said of the police eviction of Zuccotti Park, that if they're doing nothing wrong what do you have to hide?

Extreme hypocrisy is one of the traits of fascism.

If OWS doesn't work peacefully, by the end of this decade we could be in a civil war and end up with a new constitution a few years later.

I've noticed that some people like to call hippies lazy bums, but I tend to think of bankers as lazy bums whose main business is usury, who are basically not producing anything and are parasites on the host of hard working Americans.

Yeah, and this is *exactly* like the Montgomery bus boycott, the Whiskey Rebellion, and the Battle of Algiers all rolled into one tasty nutritious gluten-free biscuit.

Seems to me that they're only too quick to come up with any excuse and that this is really more about control than health and safety (we care about your health but will send you to the hospital with police brutality). If govt officials were really that concerned for our health, don't you think they might have done a better job with the BP Oil spill and numerous other environmental atrocities driven by such companies as Monsanto?

This true IMHO.. This can not be changed by setting a tent and damaging property.. The rank and file Americans have to stop buying "The Next Big Thing"
A pair of jean $40.. Buy at $9.95.. Vote the bought and payed for out of there $$$$ offices.. Vote and refuse these money making wars.. There is no value in OWS.

Been doing that for more than a generation now but they don't listen and find ways to start new wars and a new corrupt bunch takes over doing the bidding of corporations. Obama gets us out of one and now we're talking about invading Iran over similarly questionable assumptions of WMD and he was supposed to be anti war. Someone else is really pulling the strings who wasn't voted in at all and until we get rid of corporate domination of our govt, voting is not going to do a damned thing that we haven't already been doing all along. So if tents can't do it what will? Do you want to give peaceful protest a chance or would you prefer to see my guys go in and take the fuckers out?

nope, not gone and checked.........But, I do believe some of the reports, and, in some of the photo's, you can see how the area is littered, and, torn up......and, many sources talked about the need for more (read gov. provided) JOTS, and, the rest.........

Your argument, to me, is like the guilty guy, knowing he's guilty but saying: "Prove it"......and even if he is guilty, but, you can't "prove it", getting off.........

we all know, a large group of humans, camping like they are, are going to make a mess.
my point is that, knowing that, they should plan for it, and, not rely on gov. to provide sanitation and clean up.

I am sure some of the encampments have their own volunteer clean-up squadrons and MOOP-concious participants. And there are probably some that are simply slobs. What the heck, it's mob rule.

Not even if it makes people think about where the things come from and who benefits for their sale? I see Occupy as an educational movement as well.

They're obviously far worse at camping than typical burners. But maybe part of this is being such a pain in the ass that govt has to respond at the highest levels. If they were so orderly that they posed no problem, then they could be ignored and the message goes unheard. They focus on sanitation like they're "concerned environmentalists" when in fact the govt has done far more to damage to the environment by passing deregulation measures that benefit corporations. They obviously know what we want but their actions prove that they're putting the selfish interests of the few above the greater good of the nation. The Federal Reserve should be audited and any bankers guilty of acting against the interests of our govt should be tried for high treason.

The problem isn't civil disobedience, it is obedience to a system that no longer considers the voice of the 99% relevant.

So far that or any thing has not been there stated purpose.. I have been doing what I said "above" from the early 60's.. The great peaceful hippie movement just melted into corp Am.. This time no one is listening.. There is no education for those that do not listen..

Clearly the President elects are not the ones making the decisions. Just look at the GOP debate last week when Rick Perry couldn't remember the third facet of government he wanted to eliminate. If this was really his policy, how could he forget? Clearly, he just hadn't memorized the script written out for him by his corporate buddies that are funding his campaign. We don't live in a democracy. We live in a dictatorship. I couldn't even name the president of the Federal Reserve System, and I'm sure the bulk of Americans couldn't either. Whoever it is, there is your dictator. If I control a country's monetary system, I care not who makes its laws. We get no decision on who this person is because our country DOES NOT OWN OUR MONEY. This person is the president of a private bank, and he is the most powerful man in the world, but who is he? .....A little research shows that there are 12 presidents of the 12 Federal Reserve Banks. I'm still not convinced though, I'm sure there is somebody they answer to. Hiding in the darkness, making all the decisions, enslaving us all....

Indeed. At this point, OWS is more about waking up the population, than dealing directly with the problems.
