NOISE

Post by y123456 » Wed Aug 25, 2004 2:39 pm

I have a question regarding the general noise level. If you are staying at the outer camps is it quiet and peaceful. Can you find places to sleep without noise? Or is the whole city one big rave?

the outer streets are actualy quite peaceful, you can still hear the hustle and bustle and the ocasional loud person walking by, but for the most part its nice. Just remember to bring ear plugs, they help lots.

Especially the walk-in camping area(s) just past Sedna.

Following quote from the Alternative Energy Zone website(www.ae-zone.org), tips on Desert camping/sleeping.
Before you go to bed, remind yourself over and over that you may hear loud, disturbing noises while you are sleeping, but, since you are at Burning Man, this is normal. You don't need to get up and investigate every explosion.
And yes, I second the earplugs, especially in quieter areas. When it's quiet, the not-so-loud noises stand out more. Plus I find it to be kind of a good bedtime ritual. A grown-up's security-bear/blankie/gwa-gwa.
