Samtzu, I’m pretty disappointed that you’d give any kind of credence to this. It’s been mentioned time and again on these boards that part of what Germany’s fascists did best was to co-opt the language of other people even though it did not match their methods or their aims. (As far as cites, I’m not real educated on this bit, but look back to a thread from about a month ago…) Every time someone mislabels something, do you throw out a valid concept? This seems simplistic to me. And it seems to be far more knee jerk than what you are decrying as knee jerk.

Yes, corporations sometimes do some good things. On the whole, they’ve proven to be pretty terrible (imho) for local economies and for their customers. Yes, they sometimes (not always) have lower prices. And some of them give back to some charity, somewhere. But smaller local shops generally seem to be more satisfying for communities, as well as being able to be more responsive.

Sure, it’s not entirely black and white. But at some point you have to decide where you’re gonna stand, and a lot of people on these boards are not standing with the corporations at large.

And hey – chaos – what happens when you scrap an existing structure – is not the same as death. I find your brain tumour example (maybe applicable in medical situations or something) to be essentially inaccurate and overblown.

I do think your guys' recreation of the man is a very nice piece. However, I think there are more appropriate venues to share it than TJ's.
I think I'd be more inclined to identify with the 'burner spirit' when I hear that they actually set fire to the thing inside of Trader Joe's on Saturday. Solidarity and all of that...

Alright, that's fuckin it. I'm going to have to make a wooden costume of 'the Man', go to one of Larry's 'Bohemian Speeches', stand up, thank him for the comp ticket- but why the fuck do you have to set me on fire every year? That really hurts dude...

and the best part is...almost all these people bitching don't even live in Reno/Sparks area or Nevada for that matter. There are alot of stores that back up Burning Man and their rights to host Burning Man in our fucking state !! Why don't you sit abck and think of who (individuals and businesses) that actually attend the local BLM meetings every year to try to get the permits for Burning Man so you smucks can play in our state. It sure the fucking isn't most of you that are bitching about a small store getting people into a Burning Man mood. You guys need to chill and smell the Playa. Are you going to bitch about Twin City Surplus next ?? Get over it or get a life...the choice is yours.

p.s. I think it looks great Rachael !!

you know, we incorporated (crap, I used the word corporate) the theme and everything...see the planets? well, the man is the sun...I don't know if anyone can follow that just from the pictures...but if you can see, it's pretty cool...and so far, it's still up, and most burners that I have talked to...and WOW, there have been lots...think it's pretty damn cool...

At any rate...I know I'll get in trouble for this...but I am at the point where I don't care anymore...

I still wanted to share...
under this thread...
and knowing that I may get in trouble...

Yes...I'll be at the Meet and Greet...you may yell at me then...I won't be hard to miss...I'll be wearing my work shirt...

Just so that YOU know that I know that YOU know...
