We had one of those mess kits, the thing we missed was a stable container to boil water, we tried using the pan with the lid for that and I split more water than used, this time we will take a camping kettle too.

Finished sewing a brocade vest I started weeks ago.

We used to use an old coffee pot for boiling water,
then one of our friends brought a tea kettle..... I have since added a Tea Kettle to my camping gear.

Also, with those mess kits you have to be careful not to leave the pans on the burner once you've poured the water out. We use a "jet" burner for boiling water because its super easy and quick, but we once burned right through one of those flimsy mess kit pans.

VultureChow that is awesome! Love it!

Saw the HomeD-po ad and it has small flashing discs for sale. I might pick a couple up in hopes I might get to go to BM again!!!
So the theme this year is like a giant camp out in the desert? With people bringing lots of shit from all over? uh.. -Marscrumbs

Both Shopko and Target have the battery operated LED lights right now. Terrific, we have a bunch already.

I love it - add a headband and you have the perfect hat (or just attach it to a hat).

Picked up a hot pink monster fur hat at a Bat Mitzvah last night (the cheapie DJ giveaway kind).

Been mostly scaling up some skirt patterns recently and may get some sewing done, but this is Christmas cookie week around our house so I'll be mostly baking for the next 10 days or so.The first 10 pounds of dough is in the fridge now.

Yah, I usually make about 45 - 50 pounds of cookies every December. Much as I love to bake, for some reason I rarely do any baking the rest of the year aside from the occasional bread, brownies, or pizza.

I can see a mini one of these tucked into a very well-heeled woman's fancy hairdo.

Makes me want to make a bunch of them myself.

I was thinking of a Hypno Toad hat last year but my crochet expert (Mom) is not good at creating her own patterns.

I gave away so many of mom's crochet books when I cleared out dad's house! Too bad I didn't know they'd be wanted here. I can ask one person if she wants the few I gave her, one has a pony in it.

Those crocheted shrooms are pretty cool. Since I don't crochet I had to make mine out of wax in the form of a sand cast candle.

Me. It's about the only artistic thing I can do. Besides cooking. The patterns are widely available online, though after you get used to the process, you start to tweak them.

Ravelry is a great source for funky patterns. The form of crochet that involves making cute three dimensional crafts is called amirugumi.

I'm thing of a semi-big project which would be two giant crochet hooks holding up a crocheted replica of the trash fence. (Traffic cone orange of course) Ideally it would actually replace a section, but I don't think that will happen.

Yay! I love it! I'm putting up a trash fence around my camp trailer to bring me home... Too bad it's green. Wait! I have orange spray paint!!!

I scored a camo welding pith hardhat yesterday. It has cracks indicating the former owner's sense of adventurousness!

Quite possibly the most awesome hardhat EVER!!!!

We're still mostly in brainstorming mode for 2012 projects (keep having fun/silly ideas that pull us in different directions, and Pandorra and I really enjoy this part of the creative process), but managed to use the occasion of a holiday party to get the pants pockets fixed on my shiny suit (the one I wore to the Meet & Greet).

I finished rebuilding my travel trailer this weekend!!!! Everything is weather proof and now I've got a comfy place to sleep. Just gotta work out my plan for a window air conditioner. That can wait for spring...

I can't wait to test it out with the family. Gonna do some camping after Christmas out near Cazadero on the Russian River in Sonoma Co.

Now I can focus my obsessive personality on the next aspect of BM. I'm thinking that EL wired clothing and Bicycle lighting is next...what fun?

Awesome JayBob! My li'l travel trailer made my burn! I didn't have any shade on my window AC unit so the compressor kept cutting out, 5min on, 7min off. Next year'll be different. AC's work just fine out there, not just swamp coolers. Mine worked fine in the evening and pumped the heat right out!

I put up LED rope lights in my trailer. Muy bueno!
