Cars were parked on the Inter state 5.. While people abandoned there cars, climbed a fence and sprinted 150 yards to the mall in the middle of the night on "black Friday"... So many cars, the OSP could not ticket them fast enough.. They were called away to tend to wrecks for other shoppers..

It seems the feds are involved, but apparently not enough. It's been bad for a long time. And Oakland is so broke that I don't know if it can get fixed. Not that money is a solution all by itself, but it certainly can facilitate. I would guess a citizen's review board would help or a more effective one if they have one already. I cannot tell you exactly why I shrug and say "whadaya expect, Oakland Police" when this stuff happens, but I pretty much do.

When members of Occupy Oakland gathered around the truck to question police about what justification they had for disrupting the celebration and blocking the porta-potties, the police attacked the crowd. In the melee that followed, two comrades were arrested and many more were hit by police.

Stop Shopping has been going for many years. Theres even a nifty doc titled what would jesus buy.

Feel free to shop when ordered to, feel free to occupy days in advance for a 2 dollar waffle maker. Thats the best part of freedom, you are free to do as you please. But please try to avoid stabbing, shooting, and pepper spraying your fellow shoppers for those wonderful bargains from china made via massive coal useage and slave labor.

Every occupy is different when it comes to direct action. Believe it or not a few good things have been done at some of the occupy camps. Bank xfer day increased the strength of credit unions whilst getting other banksters to drop fees. Many occupy camps spent the past coupla days feeding folks, while others protested walmarx in their own way. Scott Olsen paid a dear price to raise awareness and show ppl what democracy really looks like here in the US. There has also been an increase in pepper spray sales from USA made vendors so some Americans got to work. Plenty of police got overtime pay when many departments are suffering budget cuts. Alot of kids got to learn about chemical weapons and the effects on respiratory systems. An awful lot of homeless nationwide have gotten food and medical care where they didnt before. Mike Moores fat ass got another thing to latch onto for his next film which will put ppl to work. Many people have also learned about the ugliness of fracking whereas the didnt know the term before occupy. Karl Rove got mic checked in Baltimore, his blood pressure increase on that day alone is expected to shorten his life by at least 1 year. Most importantly it has gotten ppl to leave their tvs and go out and talk to their fellow citizens and discuss our future in a current state of being that just isnt sustainable.

That's your opinion lemur. Have you checked out all the Occupy web sites around the country? When I went there (Oakland)on November 12th, I saw a martial arts & meditation class going on and mostly peaceful resisters. I personally know a few of the ILWU people that were part of Occupy. Check out the video I shot listed a few pages above. I don't think you're being accurate with your blanket statement. I don't think all the stuff going on at Occupy sites is good, but much of it seems to be. I wouldn't put too much stock in how the mainstream characterizes it either. There are plenty of folks who seem to want to look for the negative only. It's much more than what has derisively been referred to here as "childrens' crusade"...

Check out some of the links and posts here. There's a lot of good stuff. Some of the contractors I know have used their credit cards to pay for materials and supplies at outrageous rates. Many people put medical expenses on high rate credit cards. Part of the financial services reform bill that slimed its way through congress had a modest 15% interest rate cap & limits on credit cards. This was shot down. Ok for us to make sacrifices but not the rape credit industry? Add insult to injury with "pay day loan" centers right next to many military bases. Evil man, evil. Would you be for credit to service men and women after credit app and rate of say 1%? I'd vote for that in two seconds. The system is fucked man and congress with its 9% approval rating oughta show how bad its fucked. Occupy may not be fined tuned yet but at least it's in their faces and the message of the financial rape of our country by the few is getting out big time. And yeah, I'm glad Bill is in it.

Most people I know stayed home. Even 1% of 300 million is 3 million. That's plenty to gloss over the real numbers on the news media to spin an appearance of something other than reality. One has to be pretty gullible to believe the polls and mainstream news reports these days.
