Grats TM. I look forward to being a grandparent too - kids are a lot more fun when you can send them home at the end of the day.
I also got some happy news this weekend - my daughter got engaged. Now to convince her she really wants a zombie themed Halloween wedding.

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

For some reason I read that as "zombie-themed Holstein wedding".

LOL, well she is a bit on the chubby side but I would hesitate to refer to her as a cow. Now my in laws on the other hand - somehow zombie cows seems to fit so well.theCryptofishist wrote:For some reason I read that as "zombie-themed Holstein wedding".

A zombie wedding would be interesting! you wouldn't have tobuy special clothing for it however the makeup may cost a bit!

Re: Time for a Happy Thread
I had a great day! I've been getting to know a friend of a friend lately. We usually hang out when our friend is with us. Said friend is out of town so we got together this morning and went shopping at Goodwill!
We had lunch (Thai) then stopped by a store and grabbed a BIG bottle of wine.
We went over to her house and drank away the afternoon and evening.
Her couch is always folded out and covered with a huge fuzzy burner blanket (she's gate, sooo burny) so we ended up on it watching movies and cuddling for hours. It's been years since I've done that with anyone. Felt like a teenager again.
And that was all it was. Just friendly non-sexual human contact. No expectations of anything else.
I loves me some cuddling...
BTW, this gal has a dune buggy and wants me to help her build and mount flame effects on it. I proposed twin flamethrowers and she got giddy.
She's a rockin chick.
Yay!

Why yes, yes I can!
Anyone seen the movie Bellflower. That's one badass car. Vertical stacks they inject raw gasoline into and fire off with spark gaps fired off by 15Kv neon sign transformers. The movie also features a real homemade liquid shooting flamethrower. I'm in love...

We has us a Terminal City / M.A.S.H. 4207th reunion last night!
Began with a drag show benefit for a womens crisis center & a youth help org and ended at a bar across town spinning fire out on the patio. It's so nice to see burner brothers and sisters during the other 51 weeks...

After almost 10 years of trying to ignore a small tax debt I finally resolved the issue and will even get some money coming back! Funny isn't it that if I was a big Corp I coulda hired enough lawyers to forget the whole thing...but alas my $450 protest ending up a $2400 tax levy! I lose some to penalities and interest...But the return is going to pay for my tent and then some!!! Figured I had to look for the silver lining here!! Whoop!!

Re: Time for a Happy Thread
While I was driving home tonight, I learned a valuable lesson.
That lesson: Car windows are transparent.
I had been singing on my way home. Rockin' out to the Beatles. I pulled up to a stop light, and at that moment the song Money came on. For some reason, the spirit moved me to sing the end of Happiness is a Warm Gun.
Loudly.
With wonderful expression.
Expression that makes late night televangelists squirm nervously and say "Jeeze... chill out, guy."
So I'm screaming, and pounding on my steering wheel. "WHEN I HOLD YOU IN MY ARMS, AND FEEL MY FINGER ON YOUR TRIGGER... I KNOOOOW THAT NOOOOBODY CAN DO ME NOOOOOOO HARM!"
I turn my head, wide-eyed and crazy and I'm face to face with a 10 year old boy sitting in the back of his parents SUV.
His eyes are as big as dinner plates and his mouth is hanging wide open because he is STARING AT A REAL... HONEST TO GOODNESS... BONAFIDE CRAZY PERSON.
I blinked at him and was, at the very core of me, embarrassed. I turned my head back to look forward just in time to hit post on Money and SCREAM AS LOUD AS I COULD..."THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE!"
I kinda felt like I embodied every "Haters Gonna Hate" and "Not A Single Fuck Was Given That Day" image macros as I drove away from that kid.

...that kid will either:
a) need a ton of psychotherapy to rid himself of the nightmares images
or
b) become a burner

of course.... if I hadn't been so bullheaded and given in to the fact that I am NOT a major asshat corp and therefore cannot weedle my way out of the inevitable by demanding a bail out in the end...I could have been to the other side of this afew years earlier and a few dollars stronger...instead I'm just going to look at it as a federally protected saving account that pays no interest and charges an annual handling fee!
