Six men walk into a bar....

Post by Elliot » Mon Nov 28, 2011 6:16 pm

.
(My mind is enjoying a rest, so I'm letting it drift off into Silly Land.)

Six men walk into a bar.

They enter the same bar at the same time, in two groups of three, as follows:

One group consists of John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and Steve McQueen.

The other group consists of Alan Alda, Woody Allen and James Stewart.

Which group will average the most attention from ladies -- the strong macho types or the sensitive vulnerable types? And why?

I'd say the sensitive, vulnerable types. They tend to be, IMHO, more cerebral, artisitic, and more fun to be around. Sensitive guys are comfortable in their own skin. But they aren't mamsy pamsy, momma's boys either. Cheez, I can go on and on!

The strong macho types, to me, aren't comfortable with their sexuality (ie. hugging a male friend, being comfortable around gay men), are self-centered, and are way too boisterous for me. How's that for generalization!
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

I think the macho group would garner the most attention in a bar. Women tend to like "bad boys" at least initially...

I for one find a sense of humor, priceless.
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

It depends...hot sex, the macho guys; romance, the sensitive guys.

At a bar? Like where bar flies hang out? The macho dudes.

Personally, seeing as they're very old or dead- none. From that list, if they were alive & in their prime- Stewart or McQueen, depending on my mood. From the "old or dead" catagory of star I'd take Paul Newman or Ramon Navarro over any of the ones listed- both of whom would fall pretty much in the middle of "macho" and "sensitive".

Initial attraction is usually looks-based, bar attraction usually seems to run along those lines. A charming personality, even in a bar situation, can overpower the draw to looks (hence my success! ), so there are a lot more variables in play than "macho" vs. "sensitive".

Eric: Nothing personal, but I'm talking straight people. (Should have pointed that out, I suppose.)

Keep'm coming -- maybe I'll tally up a score after a while.

Meh. On all six. Wayne is scary idiot.
Clint Eastwood, well, nothing against him, but never been a fan.
Steve McQueen, my little sister was big on him, when she was quite young, so I don't know what was going on. But she'd watch the Great Escape whenever possible.
Alan Alda, whiny, fake sensitive
Woody Allen: out and out creepy, seducing the daughter (adopted or not) of the woman who was his partner for over a decade. Plus, I just don't find him funny
James Stewart--he's alright. Again, nothing that sends me over the moon, but he's better than at least three of them.

Hm...I like intelligent, well-read, witty men who can do interesting things.

Tough. Stewart is the only combat vet, and costarred with the hottest actresses. McQueen is the only one with patents. Wayne would have the best stories about old Hollywood. Clint is my home boy, but had a number of disastrous relationships, and seven children by five different women. Alda has had the longest marriage, and wouldn't stop talking about his grandchildren. Woody is a total creep, but probably the best at chatting up women.

Marlene Dietrich would have fucked all of them, and probably did.

Don't laugh, but as I was flagging my mind (oh crap, that's not the right idiom. I'm really sick of this senility stuff...) for actory examples and getting nothing, I thought about eplaya examples, and you were kinda on the list, except for the disqualification noted.

Like anyone is surprised...

And Scott was sweet. And oddly macho. And queer as a three-dollar bill. And I miss him. But I'm not about to let myself get seduced in some bar by the Swedish Chef...
