That is the best mask I've ever seen.

It takes a really talented former hacker to hack some shit like that up. He has certainly come a long way with his helmets.

let it be known that bassnectar doesnt need a helmet.

and everyone knows that bassnectar is second only to larry harvey in ensuring that burning man is in fact burning man.

Is "bassnectar" what comes out when you stand in front of the amps too long? Kind of like santorum?

It is because it is one of his well known ones. Kinda like saying everytime KISS plays them not playing. I want to rock n roll all night.

No.. it's because he only plays his own music.. ever. You will never hear him play one track produced by another person besides himself. So, seeing him live is like listening to yet another remix of the same stuff that you've already heard.. over.. and over.. and over.. and over..

I was into his stuff for a little bit, but after a while it all just sounds the same.. and there's no live sets or studio mixes that you can get that sound any different than listening to his albums.. over.. and over.. and over.. and over..

A few years back it was pretty common for him to play mixed sets. Once an artist has enough original material to fill an entire set with it, you can hardly fault him/her/them from playing their own work.

I've seen him "live" once, and it sounded like he pretty much just dropped one of his albums in his laptop and hit play. Not saying it's not good music but part of the appeal for me to see someone live is to hear something I can't listen to at home.

Just like Paul Oakenfold concert I went to... it was the most disappointing concert. It sounded like he just played a CD.

you have to think though everything is done electronically. No instruments and no vocals. It is not going to be going to like a live show such as seether or blue October. All of that is live and raw.

Uhh.. yeah you can. It's called being egocentric. He refuses to play anything by anyone else. I can't think of a single EDM DJ that does that.

..and I haven't seen or heard a single set from him with anyone else's tracks.. ever. I know he's been playing only his own stuff for at least 4-5 years now.

Agreed! I saw Oakenfold in LA when I was out there a couple months ago. He literally played for 2 hours or less, and it was less than impactful to say the least. The best part of the night was pulling up outside Avalon and the Dancetronauts were out there in the full art car and space suits. I felt totally ripped off. 2 hours as the highly billed headline DJ? Who does that?

isnt this why DJ's suck ass? because they play other peoples music instead of actually creating their own music?

..maybe im alone in that

(disclaimer: i dont mean to suggest dj's do not create stuff or use skills)

i mean uhh.. i love jazz.. its heavily based in playing other peoples music.. but, only as a foundation for creating ones own music..

Many DJs do create their own music from scratch. If you don't like or appreciate the type of music or understand how/why there are skills involved in DJing, then I would assume that you would think that they "suck ass".

All just personal preference. I can't think of a more god awful artist than Aaron Neville.. and yet how many grammys has he won?
