See.. I still stick by my original viewpoint. If some blips on a forum really disturb you that much.. then you need to find some other hobbies..

..just my view.

Life is too short and this Board is too big to pay attention to everybody. Unlike our wonderful mods, I have no duty to read the posts of people I find consistently unhelpful.

And while there are very few people I would cross the street to avoid meeting, there are some I find bewilderingly painful to interact with. My open heart takes enough hits at work, thank you, so I try to guard it, when I am home, from the unscrupulous.

Yup. same for me, when I used to plonk. Haven't found the need lately though. Probably because neon tetra is not here posting about the troups and veterans and the like.

There were a small number that I auto-plonked when we had the switchover. (I've been open about my utter hatred of these, which is why I thought that someone might now. But that was pretty narcissistic of me.) The others I wait to offend me. neon tetra (why a fish name?) is, I hope, not coming back. I'll wait for him to before I plonk him.

I plonked a bunch of spammers when everyone was burning and there were no mods here to delete them all. Didn't seem to work that well...lol.

Me too. I had 56 spammers plonked. I just checked and deleted them all from my foes list. Now, my foes list is empty.

Speaking of plonking. I would really like the ability to plonk threads I'm not interested in following, usually because I think they are rediculous, but know they must obviously be beneficial or meaningful to some people, but every time I come upon them I am always tempted to redicule them.

I plonked myself for a while but i got curious as to what I was saying so i read a few of my posts and realised i was that annoying so i un-plonked myself. now i just dont say anything to myself if i say anything annoying it seems to work well, though i do hold the right to replonk myself if i say anything really irritating

This is a feature that I really don't understand. There have be some excruciatingly annoying "cut and paste" posters over the years, but I just avoided the topics I didn't want to read. Every now and then I would peek in and see what they were saying, but it was still long strings of drivel. Why I would need to hide these topics from myself is beyond me.

I'm on many, many forums.
i've never felt the need to plonk anyone on any of them.

On the forum I'm on most of the time, people get banned long before they hit my radar.
Usually there are some psychological issues involved.
Often they come back eventually and apologize.

More for speed and efficiency than any other psychological reason. For example, my link to eplaya takes me right to "unread posts" I then scan and reader comment in any threads I find of interest and the last thing I then does mark all forums read, so that, hopefully those threads I have no interest in, have a smaller probability of appearing the next time I visit.

If I could further filter out those threads,it would take several seconds off my browsing time.
