Who do you think you would see on the playa. Doubtful they ever will but still interesting/entertaining.

I probably wouldn't recognize a celebrity on playa or off. I would think the "celebrity" was just someone who looked like the celebrity and not the celebrity at all.

Quite a few folks of varying degrees of success or celebrity go, but thankfully the whole 'celebrity gawker' culture doesn't seem to exist out there, and they're just people like everybody else. On the playa, everyone's a rock star in their own right.

I saw a post from a Utah burner who claimed to have met Lady Gaga on the playa last year. I was intensely skeptical, as she was in the middle of her monster tour. You'd think Labor Day weekend would be a huge date, but oddly, she didn't perform anywhere that weekend (I googled, but not mightily). If it is so, I hope she had a wonderful time. She's one of the few who seems like she might enjoy it, and not blather about it.

But yeah, we're all rockstars out there. And no, I won't recognize a celebrity if they bit me.

Ok back the train up. I think we lost the point of this post.

All I was asking is who do you think would be fun to see on the playa but most likely will not. I know everyone is special with in there own right. This was just ment to be fun.

I know some celbs do go out there. Hell one of my friends who is "one" will be out there next year. I know it is nothing new.

I have been lucky to meet a few of my 'cultural heroes' in my time, Kylie Minogue, The Clash, Gayle Advert, Chrissie Hyde, Nick Cave to name a few and had a chat with them, I have been in the presence of many more at parties. I work with contemporary modern artists and have met and spoken to many of the YBAs. I have been stood 3 feet away from Patti Smith a few times too. And I am happy to admit even being in my 50s I still get a 14 year old immature rush every time it happens, however hard I try to be 'cool' and occasionally walk away with embarrassment thinking "why did I say that?"

So I never understand anyone who says they are too cool to be effected by meeting their 'super-cool heroes' or even 'bland celebrities'. Even the great John Peel avoided meeting his hero Mark E Smith for 30 years, because he didn't want to be a disappointment to him or to be disappointed by him.

Honestly, this many years at Burning Man has worn off any desire to meet celebs out there. I just have a general wish for them to enjoy, and STFU about the even ton talk shows (I'm giving YOU the stink eye, Heather Graham).

I think Ashton Kutcher might have a good time now that he's officially single.

and at some point i stopped him and said 'yeah..cool.. . this is the kitchen i run.. i helped build it..'

then he didnt say anything

he left with the person who brought him over to camp as a guest and was never seen again...

The ONLY celebrity I want to meet on playa is Matthew Macfadyen. I sort of want to run into him at center camp. And then he reads poetry and sonnets to me with his soulful voice and expressive/sad eyes all day (and possibly all night) long... pure, divine, ear orgasm... Sighhh!!
