Hi!
I'm not really planning on being naked, so what types of clothing do you vets recommend I bring? Are just basic tank tops and shorts ok?
Side question, what about shoes? I was planning on wearing sandals but someone told me that is a really bad idea. What has worked in the past for you?

clothes for hot days.
Clothes for cold nights
Rain gear--just in case
good comfortable shoes you can do walking in
Nothing that's gonna break your heart if it's ruined
cotton, loose fitting, cover your limbs so you don't start off cancer
layers
sparkles to impress people (it's amazing how easily some of us are impressed out there. But nothing that's going to drop glitter on the playa.)
lights--blinkies, glow sticks, bike lights, if you're out at night. There are some cars and also some inattentive bicyclists out there.
Wash it all with diluted vinegar when you get back.

I normally wear a sarong and I will have some with me this year but I've been keeping a close eye on the forcast so I'm also going to bring shorts, long pants, long sleeved shirts and a pretty heavy jacket. If the daytime temperatures are in the 70s you can count on it being in the 30s at night. Perfect BM weather is 90s daytime and 50s at night. The last cold burn I attended was '99 and I about froze because I didn't bring warm clothing. I won't make that mistake twice.

Sandals are not a particularly great idea for most people.
I like to super saturate my feet (pre washed in a weak lemon juice solution) with aloe lotion, covered by cotton socks. Some wear baggies over a thick slathering of lotion, then socks.
