Anybody that has a bit of sense about them knows that nothing you post on the Internet is "private"; if they are stupid enough to post something they don't want people reading, possibly forever, they deserve whatever that brings. It certainly isn't something to be moderated! (Unless of course it was something that could be prosecuted in our legal system, like threats to life and limb, libel and slander, etc. In which case it is would be moderated by the police and the courts.) I "can't sit still" for tippy-toe over-moderation. Let's not be afraid to break a couple of eggs and make some omelets for goodness sake. (Where did that thread go by the way?)Eric wrote:Nothing dies on the internet and anything posted here will be around to read for a long long time- do you really want petty tirades to be part of that legacy?

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Yes, you'd have to go to the Spenard Bar to find that particular camp.tamarakay wrote: This isn't self esteem camp.

The thread I believe you're referring to remains in Open Discussion - it was locked, not removed from the site. The question 1durphul (the OP) had asked had been answered, and it was drifting into public gossip and conjecture. If the person in question were a public figure and we were a gossip site, that would be fine - but the person wasn't and this site isn't. I stand behind Eric's decision to have locked it.jkisha wrote:Anybody that has a bit of sense about them knows that nothing you post on the Internet is "private"; if they are stupid enough to post something they don't want people reading, possibly forever, they deserve whatever that brings. I was rather baffled that it was locked, unless I missed something that had been posted.
CSS had posted that he had some job difficulties, so I thought that was why he was missing.
At least he always made an effort.
Oddly, a couple of people seemed to think I was him, or vice versa.
Very strange, as our styles are so different, and my approach to mechanical innovation and science even moreso.
I like innovations that work right now.

Oh yes, here it is. It must not have been indexed when I searched for it: http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=52811
