I just had a Deja Moo... a sense that I have heard this bull somewhere before...

Re: Burning Man attendees anxious over new ticketing system
I really expected one of those links in the article to point back to eplaya. But a link to that rediculous petition? Come on now, really?

Yeah, eplaya does seem to be the red headed step child of BM. No one really seems to care what we do here, and I think the feeling's mutual.

trilo feels differently. He may have cause, or maybe it's only because he's been working with them for a short period of time. However, I like trilobyte and think he's done good things by and on the board, so I'm hoping that they don't break his heart.
I, on the other hand, like being the red-headed stepchild. Makes me feel scrappy and daring.

I work for Burning Man and it's part of my job to care. Been an ePlayan since 2000, and care a lot about it.

Re: Burning Man attendees anxious over new ticketing system
Before I started shaving my head a few years back I was a redhead quite regularly. And I've been a step-child a few times too. No biggie. I've been volunteering for and working with BMOrg on various projects off and on for many years, and have greatly enjoyed the experience. I think the site's doing rather well these days (with a great mod team and solid support and communications with HQ), and have a feeling that things will only get better heading into 2012.
As for the Bay Guardian article, it seems like they're about 2 weeks behind all the other news outlets that provide occasional coverage of Burning Man. Linking to ePlaya probably wouldn't help the author's case much, since the freakouts have dropped significantly since the details and FAQ were posted. I thought the petition was kind of funny, it had been started and received nearly half the number of signatures they have now *before* the details and FAQ had even been published (but hey, some people are all about uninformed decisions). Also interesting that their numbers would seem to indicate that the changes to the system aren't the problem/disaster/dealbreaker/end-of-the-world that some folks are making it out to be.

actiongrl, if I stepped on your toes, I am very sorry.
Yeah, that's "rolled over your toes". But I think that's heavier and more painful... I'm sorry either way, just got distracted.

I dunno, Trilo's probably the right person. I think if I were in trilo's spot I would be the one breaking hearts on the forums, especially with respect to two-posts-to-their-name, manifesto-writing, ticket-forum folk whining.
