January 5, 2012 Sac Valley Meet-Up
Description
Come out and meet some fellow Burners!
Bring out your pictures and stories from the Burn The River Decomp! and SPARK!
Come out and meet some fellow Burners!
...
Talk about Burner-related topics, events, and projects!
What would you like to see happen in the Sacramento Community?
(Workshops, brainstorming sessions, sketch-off, and paint-offs? General build-off's?)
We have a LOT of local talent in Sacramento. It's time to think about what sort of stuff YOU want to learn, share, and work on.
Hang out for the evening with some of the Sacramento Burner community!!!
************ For the month of January, we are on the move again! ************
After the (Very!) successful "Sacramento Valley Spark - Collaborate, Communicate, and Create!" event, we had a nice post-cleanup watering session at the Sweetwater Restaurant and Bar near the event site.
They had Sierra Nevada's Celebration Ale on tap, wines, and a full bar with a well-apportioned room that is nicer to have conversations in.
*** Tell your friends about the new location for January! ***

Re: January 2012 Sac Valley Meet-Up
Any chance of having a meet up in the Roseville-Loomis-Newcastle-Auburn corrodor so those of us who aren't exactly "flatlanders" can come by too?
Re: January 5, 2012 Sac Valley Meet-Up
Mod edit: Event's on Thursday, January 5th
Is it on Jan 7th or Jan 5th?
Is it on Jan 7th or Jan 5th?
In my world there's only legible and more legible.

I don't know about that, but maybe that's where we can have our 3 day, early summer blow-out.Dr. Pyro wrote:Any chance of having a meet up in the Roseville-Loomis-Newcastle-Auburn corrodor so those of us who aren't exactly "flatlanders" can come by too?

Re: January 5, 2012 Sac Valley Meet-Up
A couple of places come to mind. In Rocklin, Lorie's Little Shack By The Railroad Track on Pacific at Midas is a good choice. They have something like 400 different tequilas to choose from. Another place we've gotten together is The Valencia Club in Penryn. Right on the corner of Taylor and English Colony.Oubliet wrote:@Dr Pyro: Do you know of a good place to meet in the Roseville/Rocklin area?

(Thanks, mod, for correcting the header.)
@Dr Pyro: How's the crowd on a Thursday evening in those places? Are there lots of places for seating?
What's the ambient noise level like? Is it quiet enough for conversations to happen easily?
(Or, will they allow a group to reserve a room or an area ahead of time so that we can be sure there'll be room for people?)

Re: January 5, 2012 Sac Valley Meet-Up
I know the Valencia Club often has a band, though I have never hung out on a Thursday night since I have to get up at 5 a.m. for work. But Lorie's in Rocklin has room, I think enough seating, and is not all that loud. And it is more centrally located than the VC. And their tacos are great. (If you have an Entertainment 2012 Book, they have a twofer coupon as well.)

I know about having to get up at Oh-Dark:30 in the mornings.
Thursdays tend to not conflict with all sorts of other events like Fridays and Saturdays do.
If we had an additional meet-up event (say, on the 3rd Thursday in January), do you think it would be attractive to Foothills folks?

I would think so. It would work well into my schedule and certainly there are enough foothill burners to make a go at it. And if we start taking in Yggy's ever-expanding circle of reprobates we could make a small army out of the turn out.

Okay, let's do it!
I checked some photos of Loree's online. It looks like a big bar area, but I don't see a place where we can fit a lot of people comfortably.

Where's Lore's Shack by the Railroad Track? I remember Lori's Shack by the Railroad Tracks which used to be the Devil Pizza in Rancho Cordova way back when, but that got tore down.Oubliet wrote:Okay, let's do it!

Re: January 5, 2012 Sac Valley Meet-Up
Hm.. I just looked a some photos of Loree's online, and while I see a large bar area, I don't see large tables with seating to put people.
Can anyone along the i-80 corredor think of a place that will have tabled space with seating for, say, 20-30 people?
Preferably, a place that has a side room or area that can be saved for us.
We have a date: Jan 19th.
We just need to research a location further.

So does this mean we aren't meeting at Loree's on the 5th?

Re: January 5, 2012 Sac Valley Meet-Up
No, the January 5th Meet-up at Sweetwater Restaurant is unchanged.
What we will be doing is have ~~~ another~~~ meet-up on the 3rd Thursday(Jan. 19th) somewhere up in the Roseville-Rocklin area.
A bit more research will be needed as to what would make a good location.

What do you think about meeting at the Boneshaker Public House in Rocklin for the Jan 19th meet-up? Lots of beers on tap. Does anyone know if they have enough room for everyone.

Re: January 5, 2012 Sac Valley Meet-Up
Well, I like the descriptions of Boneshaker that are posted in Yelp.
Tentatively, I'd say that this is a good candidate spot for the Jan 19th Foothills Sacramento Cultural Meet-Up.
