The car is loaded. (I'm starting to wish I was....)

I'm about to get in the shower (and don't you wish you'd thought to do it in that order?).

My travel clothes will be waiting for me in the dryer when I get out.

Two things to exchange for the right size thing, meds to pick up - that latter would be done already, but my doctor's office is a bunch of boneheads (who the fuck ever heard of refilling a birth-control scrip for ONE MONTH?).

And then, I'm gone.

Or, if not, that it finds an appreciative audience.

(Comeon--isn't there something cool about being randomly gifted an art piece on your porch. That's bringing the burn back home!)

(Unless, of course, the art is crap.)

That's always how any insurance I've had worked. One month at a time. No buts (or butts) about it. And you can't refill it until I think like 2and a half or 3 weeks after the last one was filled. I just barely managed to get mine under the wire.

I'm all for looting, personally. Pharmacies have jerked me around and over-charged me so much over the years that they've got it comin' to 'em.

I just have a few more random gifts to finish off, and I have to pack the shit I've been using for the last week (deodorant, make-up, etc). I'm so close to the playa I can fucking smell it.

My radiation treatments are finished and the catheters are out of my breast.

I don't really care if one other thing gets crossed off my list.

  • Load bike,
Give the cat a sesquisennight's worth of love, pets and affection,
Say a prayer to Ganesha, Ap-Uautu, Papa Legba, Hotai and Raven,
Wait for travelling partners to arrive,
    Strap on hydropak,
    Shoulder necessaries bag,
    Grab CDs,
    GO!

Filled the water bottles; picked up the mini-van rental; stuffed all the junk into the back; fed the cats; got the last minute ice. Someone needed a dust filter for their mask. Now I'm setting the auto-reply on my e-mail and vacation mode on my voice mail. Then we're hitting the road baby! Days later than I'd want, but we'll see you all tonight.

And now the opposite...

Post by zeigen » Mon Sep 06, 2004 7:51 pm

My unpack To Do list is pretty much the opposite of the pack To Do list, except with a hefty dose of added cleaning.

Took off the bikes and the bike rack
Unloaded all the crap in my driveway
Took a hot shower
Slept
Washed and returned the rental mini-van
Got some food
Rinsed and rinsed and rinsed off the bikes, greased 'em up, rode 'em around, toweled them down
Rinsed off some camping crap
Piled the dirty clothes next to the laundry machine
Piled everything else on the back porch to be cleaned
Ate some more food
And now another hot shower
And then some more sleep

We had a great time, love you all, thank you all for everything. What a bittersweet feeling to come home: Ah, hot water, no playa dust. But now there are messages and products and commerce, and no theme camps and...and...
