Lol..
I swear it all began really with Karl Rove who invented this strategy of.. HEY! I know what we'll do! We pick exactly what we are NOT.. and say that we ARE! Then.. we'll pick what others laughably are NOT and say that they ARE! If we just repeat it over and over.. we can eventually brainwash the fools into believing..
Muohahahahahahaha
No, really. Laughably but yet scarily so.

"All this was inspired by the principle--which is quite true within itself--that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility;
because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily;
and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.
It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.
Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waiver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation.
For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying."

Re: Fox News is Fair and Balanced
I posted a couple of articles on this in the OWS thread. One article is by a prominent republican who saws that Fox has created a totally made up version of their reality; and the other was a study that actually proved by testing, that people who watched Fox exclusively for their news were actually less informed on current events than people watching almost any other news network.
I am amazed that there are some people here that continue to defend Fox.

I was on a cruise ship several years back, and I could only get two stations on the cabin TV---the shipboard info, and Fox News. It was downright laughable to watch the twisted views from these numbskulls. Everything bad was caused by the Democrats, and the Republicans are working so hard to fix their messes. I actually became mezmerized by the completely twisted slant on the news. As far as I can see, both parties are fucked up, but not according to Fox News. Anything that any Republican has ever done is wonderful, and the Democrats are the spawn of satan.
I had to shut it off after a while, for fear it was going to cause me to jump over the railing!

Re: Fox News is Fair and Balanced
Actually, all of the networks editorialize the "news" to their political viewpoint. If you don't believe that, you are just as blind as the Faux crowd.
Try an experiment. Watch the real political discussion on C-Span. Then see how each of the "news" outlets twist the story into something that wasn't even said, or is completely out of context. It happens every day.........

True dat. I for one do not think that Fox is fair, nor do I believe that Rachel Maddow or that crowd is either. I think even Fox would admit that they aren't fair. But from their perspective, I would imagine, they aren't "balanced" but rather bring "balance". There is a difference.

JK: if, you actually read, LF's posts RE: Fox, you'd see she does not defend them. You'd see, she points to them, as yet another source.....and certainly, no more slanted than NPR or whatever news org. you even called "left wing" or insinuated, as such.jkisha wrote:Not to be a name dropper, but littleflower just happens to pop into my mind.BBadger wrote:Like whom?jkisha wrote:I am amazed that there are some people here that continue to defend Fox.
But, you just pop off with personal attack crap, anytime she posts a contradictory opinion to your own, and, I would submit you have no pedestal to stand on and preach about anyone having "their own (biased) opinion" on politics.
It's fucking opinion, people!! What's with the personal attacks and derogatory statements, against those whose opinions differ?
How dang boring, would it be, if we all agree? And, a person having a different opinion, does not make them bad, or stupid. Our world thrives, because people see all sorts of things, differently.
We should celebrate the fact, we see things differently, try things that "will never work", and make them so.
Some people here, get so dang entrenched in their "politics", it becomes like a religion to them, and, "hell and damnation" be visited upon anyone who criticizes or contradicts their "religion".
We can surely, accept differing opinions, and still be kind and have affection, for our fellows...........
You make grandiose claims that if _______ were elected, _________ would have happened, or been worse.
You make grandiose claims, that thankfully ________ was elected, because he kept it from getting worse, and, if not for him, we'd really be in a bind.
You make grandiose claims, ____________ would save the world, if the _________would just cooperate, or, even elude to the "lets compromise, do it my way" sort of thinking.
You have no fucking idea, really, how any of those statements and predictions, would turn out. none.
You are speculating. At best.
Hell, you can't even tell me if the cat is alive, let alone in the box, now, can you?
What the fuck!!
How about civility, courtesy, respect? if not for all, at least for each other here.

Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but everyone is NOT entitled to their own facts. What pisses me off is that some people can't seem to tell the difference between facts and opinions.

Actually I'd like you to provide me with an incorrect "fact" provided by Fox News (really, I do want to find a good example). Facts can be misrepresented and still be "facts." Many people don't like the emphasis/deemphasis Fox News provides on some of its stories, but incorrect facts, when discovered, are retracted from what I've read.jkisha wrote:Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but everyone is NOT entitled to their own facts. "Fact" is anything you can get the right number of people to agree upon. Ask any lawyer, right up to the Supreme Court. The original statement -- "Fox News is fair and balanced" -- can't be disproven as fact any more than "Fox News is news you can use".
