Any day now....
Any day now....
I know Larry unofficially announced the theme and all....
So why has there been such a delay in the official announcement?
Oh and while I'm on the subject...why not do an update to the BM homepage? At least put the dates for 2012 up there.
I don't suppose I give a shit either way...it just seems a bit half-assed, how they are going about things this off season.

Re: Any day now....
I'll second that.
Although.. I'm assuming that the delay in "official" announcement has something to do with the artist rendering of the man platform. No platform, no man, no official announcement. This could also be exacerbated by the whole LLC transition thing and people being a little busier than normal.
Still yet.. this is all about BM, right? You would think that the organization of the event itself would hold ultimate priority..
Wait. What am I thinking..

Maybe LH has had a couple of stitches an is unable to pull the art work out of his ass "again"!..

Where are you seeing that, UJ? Everything on the main page is stale 2011 info..
http://www.burningman.com/
EDIT: I see the blurb on the right. However.. all the other info is painfully outdated..

Re: Any day now....
I see it. It's in the middle column under "latest news"
It just looks silly to have last years dates as a headline banner.

Re: Any day now....
Dates for the 2012 event have been posted for a good month or so (maybe more), in the middle column. The whole left column section will be updated separately, probably when the theme announcement is made and things get posted. There are a number of factors, including the essay, the actual base design, and the rendering and artwork that go along with it.

What your saying is... A lot of foot dragging going on, for some reason..
In the mean time burners art work is being held up.. This way BM will be filled with hurry up crap art.. Way to Go..
Or is BMorg going for rainbow rave and forget the burners.

Re: Any day now....
I don't think that the event is going to miss much if those who can't think of something on their own or who won't commit to a rumor because they will so slavishly follow the theme don't start now.
Maybe the fallback theme when Larry's theme isn't announced is always "Freedom".
Or go with Simon's. Especially if it's Spacemen v. Unicorns.

I am really curious to know about the art work in 2011 that followed the theme "Rites of passage". Anyone know?
Except for street signs, I didn't find much of art - theme relevance.
Or maybe I was just too clouded to get it.

You must've been in a cloud to miss all the damn doors, bridges, and vaginas people built.
Fuck the theme.

Re: Any day now....
When Ken mentioned last year he wanted to go to burningman we started researching. It always amazed us that the website had the old dates on it for so long. For other events you could take that as a sign of disorganization, lack of pride, a sign that the event was doubtful for the next year, a sign of trouble in the company etc. I mean if they can't even update their website with the right dates? So I say leave it as is. Discourage more people from going.

Vaginas are okay. It's a nine months on eplaya and one work on theplaya's worth of "sloppy seconds" jokes that I object to.

I'm a bit disappointed that they sold presale tickets without an official announcement of the theme!

Still working on the three paragraph write-up and man base.
And I must say that I'm a little disappointed in all this timidity in regard to facing the burn without a theme. It seems so totally un-cacophony to want your experience so codified for you.
