Could you make the Smoothie the night before? Leave it in the Blender Pitcher, then give it a real quick remix in the morning? Then poor and go?

I have no knowledge of how long a home made preservative free smoothie will last with out getting too funky.

robbidobbs wrote:I'm doing pretty well with just plain ol' calorie counting. I've lost 14 lbs since ttitd.
Guidelines are:
Pick a goal weight, something small that you have vivid memories being. Say to yourself: I eat and live like a (145) lb person.
Calculate how many calories to maintain that weight. Figure in your BMI and activity level (a multitude of sites for this)
Eat that many calories per day. Keep a detailed diet diary religiously. Calorie books are a dime/dozen at thrift stores.
if you want to splurge one day, lower your calories a bit on the days prior to this event. Don't try to "catch up"...it never works.
Think of it like a reloadable calorie pre-pay card. Nothing is forbidden, just accounted for.

After 30 days of this, add exercise to speed up the weight loss. Tomorrow I add exercise. Today I'm just tickled that I reached my first goal weight.

No bullshit, hype or promises. Just math.

And I agree, winter is the best time for me to lose weight.

My weight has been fluctuating, lots of water weight and inactivity. I mean, when rolling over in bed is a painful chore, you just get depressed about the whole world.

Forgiven. I am now on bed rest... part of the internal mesh velcro let go this morning. I thought I was going to die. Horrible searing pain, I can't move without holding my side. Larry was able to come home to take me up to the doc. He says it is nothing alarming to him, although he can see why it is alarming to me. Many Lortabs, and Larry is home to day to pamper me. I will need a babysitter to check in on me, but we have that covered.

Oh, I'm not happy.

But yes, the staples came out and now I have steri-strips.

Just back from the gym. I'm learning to avoid overdoing the weight machines; have a couple of slightly sore muscles. Slow gentle progress seems to be best for me there. Also work out only five or six days a week, not seven.

I use the weight machines for 30 to 45 minutes, then the recumbent stationary bike for 45 to 60. :D

Hahaha! Yes, rest is an important part of anyone's workout.
(Part of it, not all of it, I am reminding myself.)

Great that you get to work on your playa-biking skilz.

Well, I'm pretty sure I'm losing the New Year's Eve contest with Maryanimal. All the Christmas cookies drove me up to 204 pounds, and now I'm right at 199 again. Four pounds in four days? Ain't likely gonna happen. But having put the Cookie Problem behind me, I'm headed in the right direction again.

Mildly amusing anecdote: Before Christmas I took two days in a row off from the gym, and during that time I had ZZ Top's "I'm bad, I'm nationwide" running a lot on the stereo. So guess what's playing in the gym when I walk in there!

I don't know about that Elliot. I'm losing inches, not too much weight, so we both will be winners!

Happy New Year everyone! (a bit early)

I've been eating a better diet this past week, sloooow food, raw or cooked. My energy level lasts and lasts, especially the old apple a day thing (juiced with carrot and ginger) or eat 'em whole, yum, plentiful and in season!

How has everyone elses fitness plan been going? Spill it....and don't hold back, we can motivate eachother, or at least try harder!! :P

I've been trying to get back to the fitness level I had in the military: 2 mile run, 50 pushups, 50 situps. So far I can barely run a mile. Meeting cute ladies at the hot tub after the workout is a good motivator for me!
