leave it to the government to decide what is truth and what is "lies."

one minute you want to give the government all this power in the form of money, regulation, and now censorship ... and the next you're criticizing the government for bad decisions, cronyism, and corruption.

Actually, verifying (not deciding) what is true in advertising is an important role of the government. Drug companies can't make claims that can be proven untrue, for example. Companies can't sell products that are proven unsafe, for another example. It makes total sense to me that if a purported news company is reporting as news, stories that are proven to be false or misleading, the government should be allowed to pull their license.

There has been enough credible evidence that Fox is guilty of this. This is FACT, not my nor anyone else's opinion. I'd Fox advertised themselves as "Fox Opinion" or "Fox Politics" I would have no problem with them, but when they call themselves "Fox News" that's just wrong, and yes, the government should be allowed to pull the plug on them.

I feel the same way about all of the political advertising that contain lies about candidates. Don't know why they should be allowed to run either and it should be a prosecutable crime for any politician to knowingly include lies or untrue distortions in their ads.

false statements, perhaps not. opinion? cherry-picking of facts? predicting what would have been, or could have been? ignoring facts that don't coincide with Sullivan's thesis? yes... little but.

Fact-based story worthy of the front page of a "news" magazine? definitely not.

would i censor Newsweek for their decision to run it as a cover story? hell, no. i have my opinion of Newsweek as a news source... what i don't have is a burning desire to force other people to agree with me by shutting down voices that differ from my own. in fact, i welcome the opportunity to consider opposing viewpoints.

Rats are in all big cities.. They come out in occupy camp to get easy food.. Then they are crowded out into the open.. There were pictures of rats coming out on the side walks at Occupy PDX..

I have never seen any evidence of rats on our property.. Yet the dogs will bring three or four a year to the patio.. This is a fenced 2/3 acre.
