Re: Mixed Drinks..please share your recipes!
I broke the new post off from an old thread and planted it here, hoping it takes on new life (and we discover more great drinks) along the way.
Adding one from our camp. My girlfriend's favorite drink this year - the CocoBu. Coconut water with a shot of Malibu rum.

Squirtle, Wartortle, Blastoise (Pokemon Shot and Cocktails)
Ingredients:
Squirtle-
1/3 shot spiced rum
1/3 shot coconut rum
1/3 shot blue curacao
Wartortle-
1/2 shot spiced rum
1/2 shot coconut rum
1/2 shot blue curacao
Fill with Mountain Dew Voltage
Blastoise-
1 Squirtle
1 Wartortle
1 shot light rum
Fill with Mountain Dew Voltage
Directions: For the Squirtle shot, simply pour all three ingredients into a shot glass. For the Wartortle cocktail, shake the alcoholic ingredients, pour over crushed ice in a lowball glass, then fill with Mountain Dew Voltage. For the Blastoise cocktail, pour one Squirtle and one Wartortle into a highball glass over ice, add the light rum, then fill with the Mountain Dew.
Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard (Pokemon Cocktails)
Ingedients:
Charmander-
1 splash of grenadine
1 oz Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey
.5 oz Bacardi 151
Charmeleon-
1 spash of grenadine,
1 splash of scotch
1 oz Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey
Fill with ginger ale
Charizard-
2 oz Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey
2 splashes of grenadine
2 splash of scotch
1.5 ounces Bacardi 151
Fill with ginger ale
Directions: For the Charmander shot, pour a slash of grenadine into the bottom of a shot glass. Add the Fireball, then top with the Bacardi 151. Light it on fire, then extinguish before drinking.
For the Charmeleon cocktail, mix all the alcoholic ingredients and then pour over ice in a lowball glass. Top with ginger ale.
For the Charizard drink, Mix all of the alcoholic ingredients, pour into a highball glass and top with ginger ale. If you plan on lighting the Charizard on fire, add the Bacardi 151 last, after the ginger ale, on top of everything else. As always, be careful with flames and don’t try to drink flaming cocktails while still on fire! Fire burns people and stuff and faces.
These drinks scream fire, from the cinnamon punch, to the smoky scotch aftertaste. Get your team ready and go hit up Cinnabar Island. This night is for fire!
Cave Johnson’s Flaming Lemonade (Portal 2 Cocktail)

Place the lemon wheel on the rim of the glass and ignite the top. Admire your delicious weapon, then extinguish and drink.

Bay Breeze: This is a very simple drink, but it tastes like mana from heaven on the playa. Vodka (I really like it with Absolut Peach,) fill most of the glass with pineapple juice, finish it with a splash of cranberry.
Cantaloupe Margarita: This is a bit more complicated for the playa, but SO good. You need a blender if you are going to use whole fruit, if you have juice it can be iced. Works best with fresh cantaloupe, but I think you can find cantaloupe juice at whole foods or some such. This makes about 4 good-sized cocktails.
Chunk about 1/3 of a normal size melon, add it to the blender. If you are using juice, 1 cup.
1 cup of tequila
1/3 cup fresh lime juice
1/2 cup Cointreau (or other orange liquor)
ice cubes to fill the blender
Salt the glasses if people want that
Apple Pie Shots - very refreshing on the playa, but beware....they are fairly boozey but you can't taste the booze.
I quart Everclear
I gallon apple juice
I gallon apple cider
7 cinnamon sticks
4 cups sugar
This recipe makes 7 bottles for me, I use old liquor bottles that I take the lable off of. I cinnamon stick per bottle. I never refridgerate them. I think the everclear keeps microbes at bay.

Ghetto sangria (i used to make a big nalgene full and bring it to work with me, shortly before I quit ;D)
Lemonade (lemonade powder works but use a little water to dissolve it first)
Cheap red wine (i use tj two buck chuck, im a little obssessed)
Frozen grapes, mango, strawberry and pineapple chunks
Mix together. Chill. Drink. Stagger. Vomit. Pass out. Win.
Greyhound
Vodka and grapefruit juice (the tart stuff, none of the fruit cocktail.crap)
Pour over ice and garnish with a grapefruit chunk
I like to keep it simple.

Do you boil the juices and sugar, or just dump it into bottles and let it sit?

No need to boil. Mix it in a big pot until the sugars dissolve in the juices. Then pour it in the bottles.

Re: Mixed Drinks..please share your recipes!
For juices/punches, I like to dial up whatever fresh stuff I like to use in advance (in portions for serving) and then freeze it. Helps keep everything cold, I can just move a frozen/partially frozen serving to the drinks cooler the day before I want to hasten thawing a bit.
You might also be able to keep canteloupes on the playa fairly well. We've had pretty good success with watermelons, I think that as long as you keep it in the shade it can keep several days without refrigeration, until you cut & serve.

Re: Mixed Drinks..please share your recipes!
Still working on a name for this cocktail. My friend Nick invented the drink a few years back on the playa. He was honored that we made it last year despite him not being there. We promised to come up with a good name that would honor him and the drink by the time we make it out to the playa this year (that is if I can get a ticket). Anyways, here is the recipe. For sure one of the most refreshing drinks I have had out there.
What you need
1) COCONUT WATER
2) SAILORY JERRY RUM - Important that you get this brand. For some reason it tastes and works better then any other rum for this cocktail. Can be easily be picked up at Trader Joes
3) PINEAPPLE JUICE
Mix all 3 in a medium sized cooler container with ice and mix. Then pour out to your camp. You can also add other fruit juices if you like but I like to keep it plan and simple. Perfect for a high noon beverage when you want to wet your whistle.

Good root beer
1.5 oz Gosling's Black Seal Rum (infused with fresh ginger)
Orange Peel
1.5 oz of ginger-infused rum in tall glass with ice. Top off with root beer. Garnish with orange peel after twisting over the glass to release orange oil

easy!!
fill to black line with vodka (or any booze, i guess):

add ice (if there is any)
add something citrusy (orange juice.. lemonade.. orange soda.. pure lemon juice(and water to dilute) pure lime juice(and water to dilute)) or some ginger ale/ginger beer... maybe some seltzer water..
if its gonna be a long night, fill way above the line..
if theres no vodka and citrusy/ginger-y stuff....... just fill with booze above that line and enjoy!
this is the friggen playa!! youll have to make do sometimes...

I love daiquiris, but don't always have a blender handy.
Last summer, whenever I camped, I took rum and some sort of fruit juice to mix it with. My favorite was Appleton Rum and raspberry juice. when I have it, I add a dash of lime to make it taste even more like a daiquiri.

Served with lots of ice. Sugar rim you want to but I think it is sweet enough on its own.

Porch Climber
24 beer
26 oz Vodka
2 unmixed frozen lime aid
I don't drink anything carbonated, so i've never tried this, but my nephews make it for camping and parties. They use cold beer, and chilled vodka. Mix it in a big Gatorade cooler jug. If it warms up too much, they add ice to their glass.
Someone who tried it last summer said that you don't taste the beer, and described it as a light citrusy drink that will knock you on your ass if you're not careful.

My playa drink recipe sucks.
Take a cooler and fill it with Tecate and gallon bags of cubed ice.
Drink all the Tecate.
Take a half melted bag of ice and empty it into an over sized thermos.
Add powdered drink mix or fizzy drink tabs, with electrolytes.
Spike with sugar and bottled lemon juice.
Top off with vodka.
Drink and pass out to all your neighbors.

Last years playa mix in 3qt. igloo with spout, perfect for on-the-go missions:
Fill 1/3 with ice
