I'm getting my first set of fire poi, but in a rather roundabout way.

At the end of a rather dull day, one of my wife's business accounts dropped off something at my shop and seeing we had leather asked about it because his daughter makes fire toys and needed handle material. I showed him my nylon ones and he brought her in from the car.

I gave her enough leather for about a dozen handles, and she offered to make me a set of cathedral fire poi.

Sometimes things come together in really unexpected ways. Now to practice more so I can spin fire without turning myself into a human torch.

Happy New Year! It's time to start all over again. It's a new year and it's time to set your plan in motion.

Today I started my dreaded lists. It gets easier and easier every year, but I do the lists anyway. It helps keep me sane as I watch the clock until I get to go back.

Convinced my husband that we're actually going to do this, and paid off a big chunk of my credit card (in preparation for ticket sales).

Today I broke the news to my wife that I'm buying two tickets instead of one. I had been waiting for the right moment...and it never came. My family is supportive and all but $800 is a lot for me.

Here's hoping I win lower tier tickets, so I don't have to hear as much shit from her about it.

More $$$ Spent = More Crap I Gotta Take

At least I can spread out my other expenses so they are not as noticeable :D !

I haven't had a chance to post much lately so I have a few weeks worth of one item for BM a day things:

1. New LED poi set.
2. New Cords for my practice poi.
3. Fiber optic mohawk (will probably attach it to a hat).
4. Four LED cyberlocks in 2 different colors (will likely build these into a hat).
5. Four LED glow sticks in 2 different colors.
6. Two LED necklaces in different colors.
7. Several prismatic LED things to attach to my crocheted penis hat.
8. Too cold for PBR so started to work on my tolerance to the harder liquour.

I need to make a new mu'u mu'u to wear in Hawaii, which would work on the playa also.

Hello everyone!! It's been way too long since I posted, got caught up in the craziness of the holidays :shock:

Many of the holiday gifts I received were for Burning Man. Lots of random camping gear and a $50 REI gift card :D :D The Burning Man section of my closet has gotten really full suddenly, which makes me a very happy girl....the biggest thing I need now is a TICKET! :shock:

Oh, and Happy New Year to everyone, it's finally 2012!!!

@JayBobBoy - my fingers are crossed for you on getting lower tier.
@NellieX - congrats!
@AntiM - woohoo for health!
@drawingablank - #8 is a valuable skill for exploring the playa at night, too…something that you can nip from a flask is nice to have after dark.
@Milayna - sounds great! By summertime, you'll be able to look back and laugh when you think how it used to fit into just a section of your closet :)

We haven't been doing a one-a-day thing, but have been making a little progress nevertheless.

We recently discovered these great little pomegranate-in-a-cup things at the grocery store, which Pandorra really loves. For bonus points, the little cups they come in are recloseable and come with their own little spoon, after a good washing they'll make great containers for yogurt & fruit. We've got an amazing farmer's market within walking distance, and that wound up being one of her favorite playa treats (made a big batch, then divided into single serve portions which she vac-sealed). Stayed very fresh and was one of her favorite treats on the playa this year, the little cups will make a much needed upgrade over the vac seal bag.

We're also making some nice outfit progress. Our brains are pretty playa-fied, so we don't really have specific playa clothes.. but something we're working on for an event at the end of the month will also work for the playa. We found some great material at our favorite local fabric joint (bonus points for the 20% off discount on silks) and the skirt should be finished by the weekend. I'm not sure if we'll be able to do the walking coat in time for the event this month or not, but I like where the design is at.

Thank you Misa, I too will laugh in a few days. Unfortunately that wasn't the only thing I did in an ambien haze. :?

But yesterday, ken and I completed the playa pew, cut out another loveseat, and cut out a table and four stools.

We have to get the wood stuff all done as this was our last grandchild free weekend for a while. Starting this week we are on babysitting duties. Painting, sewing etc. will still be possible, but power tools are difficult with a curious and bright 1 1/2 year old dogging your every step. BUT, I love it that way.
