Louisville Area
Just moved here and need to be pointed in the right direction! I like to meet like-minded people...who are into Green Politics, Burning Man )( and Phish.

Hi buzzn247!
Here's a link to some Kentucky Burner info (it can be hard to tell how active they are without actually joining their list).
http://regionals.burningman.com/us_ky.html
I don't know if ePlaya can satisfy your appetites for Phish and Green Politics, but we've got the Burning Man part down pat. Have you Burned before?

Re: Louisville Area
Thank for the information Savannah, I will check it out shortly. And I was there in 2009 on a solo trip from midwest... unbelievable how time flies!
Re: Louisville Area
I just got an Error 404 when I clicked on the links...
Re: Louisville Area
Yeah--I'm not sure if Kentucky is active, but you can send a blank email to the 2 addresses listed, just in case.

Re: Louisville Area
I'm pretty sure the Kentucky regional's somewhat active, they participated in the CORE burn in 2011 (someone had to build it!). You could also try posting in the Regionals & Events boards to see if you can find others/events in Kentucky. Welcome to ePlaya!

Re: Louisville Area
LeChatNoir is from Kentucky, though he's not very active on eplaya anymore. You're most likely to find him in the barn. He's also very good people and is likely to be a good resource depending on time and distance.

Re: Louisville Area
Thanks Cryptofishist I see a likelihood that we would get along and I traveled to some areas of Louisville and would be surprised if I did not take a picture (my Avatar) of a building not too far from his/hers studio. because on his profile describes themselves as Artist/Blacksmith. See Pic attached!theCryptofishist wrote:He's also very good people and is likely to be a good resource depending on time and distance.

Hello,
LeChat lives about an hour out of town. I have two friends who live on the same block as your second picture. My blacksmith shop is right downtown in Louisville, you're welcome to come by for the nickel tour. (Fred's retired, I'm Lewis.)
Welcome to town.

Re: Louisville Area
Thanks for the info Lewis I am hoping to make rounds towards that area and the whole Bardstown Road area in coming months. Nice snow today outside, I hope to be more active on the boards meanwhile.

Hi buzzn,
I see you've met fciron. His shop is super cool and chocked full of old-time goodness. He's a worthy and valued friend and an accomplished iron monger. Worth the trip to go meet him. Tell us about your first Burn!
And please do hang around the boards. There's a lot of good folk here and lots of knowledge to be gleaned.

Hey buzzn247! Welcome to eplaya, and the Bluegrass..
You might try looking up Kentucky 'Hillbilly Burners' and, in Cincinnati, 'ThePound'. I've been up to the Pound, they have a cool old building that they are rennovating, as a creative workspace. I met Kristal up there, though I believe she is heavily involved with the HBburners too. I think she helped a lot with the CORE project as well. She is a friendly lady and good organizer, and would be a great burner connection for you to make.
And meanwhile, there are lots of fun people and informative threads here too!

Yep it is quite a collective here so most definitely I will share and Extract (information). Am intrigue by the energy on the boards alone, so I predict meeting in person would be like burning all over agin!LeChatNoir wrote:Hi buzzn,

My fondest memories of 2009 BM was just being inviolved in the atmosphere of it all, I did a solo trip to Nevada and "walked" around everywhere (yep legs of steel, lol) whilst in BRC. Next time I'm rigging a bike or contraption of some sort...maybe a mobile bed?
Two of my most memorable Art installations were Braindrop by Kate Raudenbush & the very creative Evo-Wallby Carl Sanden. I spent hours at those. 2009 was a crazy year for me I have many stories and can't wait to share them.
Also I am trying for a 2012 return but if not atleast like to be in the mix for years to come.
