ah.. hehehe... nevermind everybody... false alarm, i'm dumb.
Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Well I used to post on here a long time ago, but I couldn't remember my screenname. So I'm back again.
Just registered for my first Burning Man ticket the other day. I've been waiting for several years to go, life just hasn't let me go but it looks like it may be working out this year. I've been going to regionals for a few years now.. I live in Charlotte, NC so I've been making it to Transformus, Alchemy and Euphoria.
I'm big into volunteering at burns, I really enjoy helping pull them off and meeting people. I usually end up hoping on a golf cart and going wherever people are asking for help but at Transformus I've mostly been sticking to rangering, doing some Khaki shifts this last year. The past two years at Alchemy I've been the First Aid team lead and that has taken up most of my free time there. Euphoria's first year was last year, I was First Aid team lead for them as well. This year I'm taking the year off from the excessive volunteering, since it was starting to hamper me a little.
Anyways, I'm excited about the prospect of going to Burning Man. Hope to see some of you there!

Hm. I'm not sure if they'll let you ranger your first time out... I don't know if they consider the regionals sufficient experience for the playa itself. Interesting question. There's plenty other ways to help out, formally and less so, however.

I wasn't planning on rangering this year at Burning Man, considering a shift or two at Gate or something like that, but that'd be all. I'd enjoy rangering I think but I agree with them you probably need a year of experience under your belt before trying it.theCryptofishist wrote:Hm. But some regionals do have people who are trained/approved/whatever to do BRC Ranger training come train their rangers. I think that counts if they go through that, but I'm not really sure. We haven't managed to get that yet.

Hi! My name is Regina and I am currently in my hometown of Bethlehem, PA. I have been attending Burning Man for the last two years, though I knew of it for three years before that and am currently registered for 2012. I was on ePlaya before but with travels and life had to re-register after a long internet hiatus. I love shiny things, am usually covered in some sort of sequin/metallic apparel and have been playing around with EL wire for a while as well. Hopefully this year some of it will make it out on the playa. I love spinning things, staff, hoop, poi, fans, and gave myself chemical pneumonia year one (2009) from some over excited fire eating Burn night.

Hiii Regina!
Chemical pneumonia from fire-eating! . . . Maybe that's old hat to the fire conclave, but it's a new one to me! It technically wouldn't be cross-posting if you made a joke about it in this thread .
you know you're burnier than thou . . .

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Oh hello.
Burning man nooblet here.
I've been watching this board for quite a while now... perhaps since maybe April of last year?
Just now I finally worked up the confidence to make an account and start posting.
I have been wanting to go to Burning Man for quite a while and I think perhaps next year (Not this year, I am le broke) will be my year.
I am from Texas and, ah um... well I am not sure what to say.
When I do go my mother will be most likely be coming with me although I will have turned 18 during this years Burning Man.
She's the one who introduced me to this bundle of awesome. Well, her and the internet.
I am so excited I could clap.
And for me, being an extremely quite person, that is a lot. A lot of lot. A barrel at least... or maybe a bathtub? Which one is bigger? Oh well.
Hopefully when I go I can shake off my shyness and be my quirky self.

Actually, you did play a game of "gotcha!" with me last year and it did hurt. I guess I got a little passive-aggresive here. Sorry.Dr. Pyro wrote:What the hell did I ever do to you to deserve this?theCryptofishist wrote:So, who's scariest, Simon, Doc Pyro or Token?

Welcome to all the newbies! Glad you are all here. Jump on in, we don't bite much just little nibbles. Which will only be a problem for Nugget I suppose.

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Oh hello. This is Sébastien, hailing from Brooklyn, NY. This will be my first burn (hopefully, fingers crossed for a ticket) and I absolutely cannot wait. My beautiful new friends in SF turned me onto the experience and I'm so looking forward to finding myself, finding beauty and meeting many of YOU! To be honest, there's fear about not being to know what to expect but no worries, there's also curiosity, anticipation and delight about the unknown. I resist the urge to start making checklists, buying supplies, checking every inch of my life and hope that the spirit will take me where I need to go.
As a cynical native New Yorker, it took my first trip to the west coast last year to discover that life could be good, people can be kind and beauty can be found everywhere if you know where to look. I can't wait to spend a week exploring those ideas with my friends (long time, enthusiastic burners themselves) and participating in building something profound and lifechanging.
See you on the playa and look for my tall-ass playa angel on the way in.

From out of a dream I rode to beyond the Horizon. Got Adventure? The Zen Gear One Meteior Crater surrounded by a lot of roos, emus, Yowies, drop bears and one major flood in the driest desert on Earth... There still was a bottle of red with dinner.

Hello!
Whats up I'm Justin. I did my virgin burn last year (camped at Fuzz Patrol) and I loved every second of it (even when I was dying from the heat). My favorite aspect of burning man was that everybody I met there was happy and loving, so I truly felt at home. One of my favorite moments last year was after losing my friends alone and cold in the middle of the playa and wanting to sit down, I randomly encountered a lounge chair with a drawer next to it that said "open." I opened and there were polaroids of some person's life, a dog, a loved one, and various pencils and a statue of Buddha. I sat down and gazed at the stars, completely resonating with the ambient noise of debauchery and love of BRC... I finally arrived at my destination (Fractal Nation) to see Beats Antique play, and was completely taken aback by the paintings of Robert Venosa and Android Jones. For the next week I danced and loved. It was the best week of my life. I can't wait until this year!

Welcome Justin last year was mild for the heat. Just keep that in mind for upcoming years. I mean no one knows what the weather will do out there but always er on the side of it's going to be silly hot.
Ragabadger don't give a shit.
