sorry I missed the meet and greet....as you can imagine being on the playa is a non-stop cosmic encounter and I was engrossed at that time with speaking to and (later interviewing) the incredible fisherladies and fisherman guys from the Tuna Camp from Charleston, Oregon
Did meet Lady Merv, Q, Papabear, Bambi and Windborne....all these folks are truly incredible people and it's an honor to now know them in person.
Love to you all...as I wash pounds of playa dust from my truck, bod, clothes,
gear, mics, cameras etc, etc etc..

The meet n greet was cool as always. BDC and WB is always awesome and Doc Pyro as cordial as ever.
The guy at the bar fed me the Martini olive from Hell to start.
Saw a couple ppl from last year..
Lydia, as cool and Lovely as ever. Thanx for the Fucking Gift ! ^_^
Eli Eli Eli, Sooo lookin forward to seeing her this year. But she got scooped up by another guy last year. Me sad, him stoked !
Still cool chatting her up.
Doc Pyro, Preternaturally cool.
Then some ppl I had'nt met yet.........
I cant remember all their names sadly. Just faces.
The guy who handed me a beer immediately upon arrival, I think it was Calsur.
Badger, the one I was lookin forward to meeting the most.
Not what I expected (never is, right ?)
Easily as tall as me (I imagined him shorter)
And instead of schooling ppl about proper etiquette and taking apart someones stupid argument, he was smiling, funny, chatty and easily approachable.
Should've known really... lol
Apologies to everyone else I met but faded on names.
I got seriously tanked before I left there.
But everyone was having a blast and I was seriously jazzed to be there.
Look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
Chris.

Yes Cryptofish I was sorry you left early, I remember trying to find you again, thank you for the beautiful necklace. Lydia Love Fucking Rocks and really knows how to fucking give out a fucking gift. Fat Sam and Rachel were an unexpected surprise and a very lovely couple. Windborne thank you for our little chat you are a true gentleman. Silver, next to you I felt underdressed in my black vinyl Bunny outfit, it gets awfully cold fast out there and I just was'nt prepared for my tits- to- the- wind- bunny -hop. It however was made so much easier to deal with after recieving some of Rob the Wops special brew. It warmed my trip back to camp, I'm not sure but I think I was kidnapped by aliens on the way. Magikal you were a pleasure to talk to and look forward to more. Reba and friends I was so glad to give-up some of the bunny costume to a good home, put it to good use it belonged to someone very special.(no they are not dead). LRB you were an pleasure to meet and I felt completely at ease around you. Hope to run into you around LA. I will remember more after I let a fews days pass I'm still pretty fried from my drive, Left Backrock 7am arriveded 7pm. Love you all

Yes honey, I did give 'em all out. You handed that task to an exceedingly drunk person, I'm afraid, and so when I got to the point where I couldn't find anyone who *hadn't* been given one I went rather overboard and attempted to force them on people. Perhaps not the spirit in which you'd have chosen... but I blame Rob the Wop's fucking gift. (Jeezus sweetthang, you poured me rather a largish glass didn't you?)
It was excellent meeting y'all.

Good greet.
About time I met folks from the playa. Looks like some folks enjoyed the fruits of my labors. You'll have to tell me whether the color was green or red. Ifins red- well it does that. N'joy.
Great meeting you all. Ring-O-Fire surprised me too. Funny thing was my first thought when I initially seen the tag was, "Oh crap, I'm in a dress. I'll just have to bum rush BRR and hope his grappling skills aren't up to snuff." (I had just talked to Cryptofishist and turned around to see the Black Rock Rick tag).
The Eplaya ladies looked lovely (nice outfit Lydia), and the men dignified and classy. Nice tux there Silver. Huge thanks to Tiara for the band camp hat, I collect nice hats and this was an awesome one for the collection. Reba, that was a tasty PA.
Big furry smootches to y'all and hope to see at least some of you at TriSantaCon (Portland/Seattle/Vancouver).

Meet & Greeter
Does anyone know of a meet & greeter named Ivanka?
He was the most beautiful boy from SF. He gave us the best welcome and I had an even better time with him at Spikes.
He left a CD with me and I would like to get it back to him!
Thanks!

It was very nice to meet all of you at the meet and greet, and I, too, had to leave early due to Rob the Wop's gift (Whooo-ahhhh!!!). I belive that I pretty much remember most of the people I met (Calsur, Lydia, Rob, Cryptofishist, Fat Sam and Rachel, Magikal, Doc Pyro, The Rebbi, Ring O' Fire, Captain Goddamit, Silver, Reba, Badger, and everyone else who kinda' blended into one as sensory overload took over)
I made it back to Portland in one piece and immediately signed up four friends to go next year... even though this year will be better.
Just like last year was.
Love to ya'll...
Sam

Rob, it was green, and my memory insists a great deal more green beverage than I'd ever consumed in one sitting.
It was a glorious night of excess, that's for damn sure.
Rebbi, darlin, you rock my world.
Babybell, this thread is geared at a specific party, the "Meet and Greet". I'm fairly sure the org will set up a place to post "I saw you and I wet my pants" type posts in the near(ish) future.

I went to the MnG, but I only hung out till about 6:30 because I had other obligations. Glad I met those of you who were there early though. I was the one in the gold toga, just in case you saw me and I didn't say hi. I'll try and hang longer next year, I promise.

At least i have the excuse of beign sick. I was nearly medevaced to Reno on Wednesday, but luckily Remsa had me covered. I wasn't really up to par for several days though. Sick to my stomach, sleepy as hell. Hence Stuart's inappropriate comment on the Outing the Eplayans thread.
Still, i DID miss meeting youall. Especially Rob. Sigh.

Then I'm afraid m'dear, that you will have to blame the other intoxicants for the blur. That was only one shot of the REAL 1855, double-distilled recipe. The rest of the glass was just a sugar cube and water. That would put a very pleasant haze on things, but shouldn't have dropped you. Maybe nudged over the edge.Lydia Love wrote:Rob, it was green, and my memory insists a great deal more green beverage than I'd ever consumed in one sitting.
Now the RED liquid can drop people with as little as a half shot, if you're drinking. Sometimes even when you're not. This has made many a Santa very happy- hence 'Reindeer Fucker'.
Next time I'm in Seattle, I'll bring some. It's best sipped by itself over light conversation and Nibby bars.

No no, I'm blaming *you* because it's way more fun that way.
I look forward to it! I'm gonna be back over in Seattle within the next couple of months and outta this fucking hell-hole of Bremerton. Maybe I can set up something of a Seattle Chapter of the Home for Wayward Burners.

Hey!
Uh, I just posted over on the outing thread then I saw this one and now I'm confused- what is the outing thread for?- and my head is still spinning and I have bug eyes and I think this one beer I just drank has made me really loopy. As oppossed to the normal loopy.
Oh did I ever have fun!

I am SO f'n sorry I missed the M&G - I wound up transportationally challenged again this year (the trike I acquired through here had a seat that was both the wrong angle and the wrong height, and rusted in position so I couldn't use the goddamned thing). But I got to meet Tiara at Greeters, Badger, Captain Goddamnit, and Technopatra at DMV, and Lydia and Rian out on the PlayaCruiser, so all was not lost.
Crypto - Will you and the hubby be at Decomp?
Diane - Next BayCon, I trust....
Ivy - next year, sweartoghod. Or maybe I'll find an excuse to drive down to SoCal (I have family, in-laws, and out-laws there, so it shouldn't be that hard) and make a detour past the beach.
For now, I must put my shirt back on (goddamnit, it was COOLER in the desert than it is here!) and go unload the things that belong at dafydd's place so I can drive to my place and unload the rest of it.

hey sweetie, sorry to confuse you. that one is to shed a little light on the eplaya bullshit. all those folks who pretend to be assholes in writing, and are not, or whatever other deception they're trying to pull on us. Similar, but it's all in the nuance....sparkletarte wrote:Hey!

I appreciate your effort. I'm really sorry I had to leave early after only a few hugs. I hope that late comers had the chance to grab one. Wow, I think I met almost everyone! It was unreal for me to have the boat in my avatar picture full of the eplaya crowd, all live and in living color!
Using the boat's picture on here worked great, because everyone recognized it on the playa and dozens of connections were made that otherwise would have been missed. Usually when someone came up to the boat I'd already have at least one other eplayan on board, so they got to meet in person too. Interested Bystander, Blenderhead, Dragonfly Jafe, Rebbi, Crypto, Sensei, Notthatone, JBelson, and countless others all found me out on the playa that way and I was able to introduce them to others.
Bambi of Finland, UnjonHarley, Calsur, Sparkletarte, Technopatra, Rob the Wop, Ring O' Fire, Lydia Love, Trollop (Rian Jackson), Stuart, 'Stine, Zona, Ivy, more whose names will come up in a bit... I liked everyone I met, and tried to cram margaritas into all of you, as advertised.
I have an extremely radical new mutant vehicle in the works for next year (an open-cockpit 4-seat "airplane" that hovers about 8 feet up and can be banked or barrel-rolled while underway... you're gonna have to strap into this one!) but I'm gonna bring back the Playa Cruiser too, just for it's ability to get everyone together.

Unfortunately I didn't make it to the meet & greet either...just curious though when were most of the people there? Earlier or later? I was thinking of stopping by around 9 or 10pm but figured everyone was out and about by then...

Hey Y'all!
I had a great time at the meet and greet as well. It was great meeting all of you guys and putting faces and human personalities with all of your eplaya personas. AntiM, Ivy (who plays a fabric artist on TV!), the Cryptofishist (and Mr. Fishist), Ivy, Lydia Love, sparkletarte, Dman, samtzu, Dr. Pyro, Captain Goddammit, Rob the Wop, DJ Big E, burningsteve, Apollonarius Zues, Reba, Karma, Silver, Badger (forgive me if I forgot anyone)...you guys all were great!
For those of you who weren't there, or who didn't witness "the pseudo-Black Rock Rick incident", here's what happened.
I had already been at the party for about a half hour when they started giving people name tags. Suddenly, I got an inspiration for what I thought would be an awesome, funny as hell prank; I told the guy making out the name tags that I was "Black Rock Rick." Captain Goddammit was standing right next to me and asked me, incredulously, "Dude! What the fuck are you doing!? You're going to get your ass kicked!" I thought, "Hmmm...the Captain may be right...a lot of people hate that fucker's guts...I'd better be careful." Then I told the guy to put "RingO'Fire" in tiny letters at the bottom of my name tag, just in case.
For me, one of the funniest moments was when someone I'd already met, I don't remember who (Ivy maybe? I'm tring to remember through the alcohol fog) came up to me, with my "BRR" name tag on, and whispered, "I heard Black Rock Rick was here." It was all I could do to keep from busting out laughing, but I whispered back, "Yeah, I heard that too." It was a totally priceless moment for me.
Cryptofishist, I was so glad to see you laughing when you read my name tag though. We both had a great belly laugh. It was awesome.
By far though, the most exciting moment came when someone (I believe it was you, samtzu, but correct me if I'm wrong) prompted me to go introduce myself to Badger. It went something like this, "Dude, that's Badger right there. I dare you to go up and introduce yourself to him as Black Rock Rick." Never one to let a dare pass lightly, without hesitation, I strode into the middle of the group of guys around Badger, stuck out my hand, and said, "Hi! I'm Black Rock Rick!"
Fast as lightning, Silver's hand was around my throat with his thumb against my carotid artery. At this point, I immediately noticed that Badger, Silver, and Karma were all three GREAT BIG DUDES. I'm about 5' 10" and 180 lbs, so I'm kind of a medium-sized dude. Sensing that I was about to get an ass-kicking from these three big guys, I grabbed Silver's hand (still around my throat) and started hollerin', "RingO'Fire, RingO'Fire, RingO'Fire, I'm RingO'Fire! I'm not Black Rock Rick! I'm RingO'Fire!"
After what seemed like a really long time, Silver let go of my throat and we both busted out laughing. Karma had a good laugh too, and told me, "Bro, you need to lose that name tag!" Unfortunately, I never really got to talk to Badger, since I left on a cruise with Captain Goddammit to drive sparkletarte home.
Anyways, I had a great time! I hope I can see all you guys again next year!

I witnessed it ... it was priceless! If Ring hadn't looked like his avatar, I don't think any kind of protesting would have saved his ass from multiple whippings... I think next year we should all come as BRR and see who kicks whose ass!

T'wasn't I...though someone did come up to me an whisper "I heard BRR was here." I think my response was a derisive snort. They said, "Really, he is, he's over there with a nametag." Thank you all for the kind words and it was cool to see some of you for the umpteenth time and others for the first. Everything went along according to Hoyle. The only downer was after the party on our artcar and Silver decided to be judge, jury, and executioner and threatened to beat the living bejesus out of one of our campmates over a comparitively minor misunderstanding. Dude, you have issues and need to come to grips with your anger. Apart from that, everything was cool. Nice to meet Ring'O'Fire, theCriptofishIsts, Jezebel, The Wendys, etc. etc. etc. and great to see so many of my good friends (Eli, blyslv, Booker, Ivy, R-Pod, Tiara, Lydia, Dyna-Lite, jinx, and every last one of you from Wheeeee!ville). Let's do it again next year!
