Costs a little more but actually tastes better too, and available in cooler friendly plastic half gallon jugs.

I got some organic single serve long life flavored organic milk boxes. Much longer shelf life than a couple months. I'm not at home so I can't check them, but it was around six months? Horizon brand (chocolate and vanilla and strawberry).

Yeah. Last year, Safeway was selling them a couple months before the burn, so I stocked up. and you can use up the rest when you get home.
I should probably drink that last one soon. Next time I don't have milk for my cereal, I guess.

That's the only kind I get and I buy it from sam's club. You can buy 3 cartons for the price I pay for 1 in a regular store.

Does anyone have any experience with how almond milk does out on the playa? It seems to last better in my fridge than milk.

Yeah--the Horizon single-serve organic milk is excellent. I bring it and chill it for shredded wheat, or to round out a meal that's too light on protein.

Wh..sh, with the Horizon milk boxes, you won't have to pray that it lasts the week; you just keep a couple in the cooler. They're found on the same aisle as juice boxes.

There was a really big Slow Loris (longer than a house cat) at the local zoo's nocturnal house. I have never seen anyone or anything move so slowly and gracefully in my entire life. It's hard to believe they're real when you watch 'em. It doesn't seem like anything ought to be able to move like they do.

ygmir wrote:now's when I hate living alone........I wanna cuddle something/one......

I don't know what it is, but the loris video makes men into puddles of warmhearted goo. I could post cat videos all day, and people would remain unmoved, but break out the loris and everyone gets sentimental. :)

Ya, sure, except for the extremely nasty taste it's pretty much perfect. :P

And can I go back to this for a minute?

Unless it's the fact that K has stronger reactions, to the same set of circumstances than Na.
No Na is added to vitamins, for obvious reasons.

and, yeah, anything overdone, can be poisonous, for sure.
K being highly water soluble, I'm sure it's shed fairly rapidly.

I'm not advocating taking a lot of K. Just wondering, where the warning for it comes from, if compared to Na.

Sodium (Na) and potassium (K) ions are more than close cousins, they are paired partners. 8) They jump across your cell membranes in the little do-si-do dance that keeps everything moving. As long as they are reasonably balanced on both sides (intracellular and extracellular), you continue to live. Having too many of one or the other in the crowd there on your dance floor will introduce delays in the dance that can be fatal. :|

And yeah they are water soluble, so, are balanced by the flow of water through your kidneys. That is why dehydrated people feel weak: K overload slows down the dance. This can actually stop your heart, which is why K is used in open-heart surgery and execution of criminals.

If you have ever felt stronger and more energetic after a big drink of water, well, you probably saved your own life right there. 8)

We usually cut open the coconut in half after drinking the water. There usually is yummy tender coconut inside that should not be missed.
Coconut tree is one of those trees where all parts can be put to good use before burning :)

Exactly...that what I meant by snack :)

It is great you could use it all...when you cut it half, you can put it as a cap on stakes so nobody is hurt :)

One of those YMMV, use in moderation, blah blah things. I have trouble with it for sure. Best to find out before Burning Man than during if it isn't a usual beverage for you. Unless you're stopped up like I-10 in LA during rush hour.

Watch out, those slow loris videos on youtube are sooo cute, but in reality they have a toxic bite (they have a gland that produces toxins that mix with their saliva) so usually when people keep them as pets they have their teeth pulled out  Really sad and awful. Ok, total thread drift, I apologize.
