Victoria, Australia (CN) – Australia’s sole academic journal concerned with cultural issues and stuff, Meanjin, recently published an article about Burning Man that has breathed new life into the slowly dying desert event.

The author of the article makes several controversial claims about Burning Man such as:

Actually, I posted my first post before actually reading the original article.

It's a good read. Well written and pretty accurate. Not close to what the OP's quotes from "the article about the article" would lead one to believe.

i prefer picture books. in fact, i make them from time to time..




anyways..im not so sure i agree that the best writing happens in a vacuum, some writing that is good may..

we were made to read some of that 'young poet' stuff in school.. some of it sure is neat! but it hardly has the longevity of William Shakesman.

i have been enamored with this little bit of a book of words for many years, about creating things in a vacuum:

Imagine attempting to engage with an alternative music scene having only listened to your grandparent’s country collection. This could be interesting in an oddball conceptual way, but your exchange will be a lot more richer if you have studied and are familiar with lots of music, both mainstream and obscure.

Read Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet I'll try to see if they have it in a picture book format for you.

One of the best books I ever "read" had not a single word of text in it. It was actually a series of books by a Japanese author and each was about his travels on foot through a different country in Europe. Each page was illustrates with a road that went across it (and him walking on it) showing the different things that he saw, both great and small. wish I could remember the name of the author.
