Yet another Virgin Burner!
Yet another Virgin Burner!
Hi Everybody!
This will be my first year at BM after about 10 years of wanting to go and never quite getting it together! I'm so excited--I've been obsessed since about September! I've read everything on the website and I've been lurking here, and I've made lists and plans and gotten supplies together...whew, I'm out of breath!
I was totally stressing over the whole ticket thing and getting enough money together to ensure that if I do get selected for tickets I will actually get them. I was running short this week and suddenly today I had the brainstorm to clean out my jewelry box of all those broken and tangled gold chains and earrings that have been accumulating for the past (insert large number here) years. I took them to a gold dealer and voila! $800 later I am set for two tickets at whatever level I might get them.
WOOHOO!!!

What an awesome use of under utilized capital ! I applaud you, and welcome aboard our crazy train. Fingers crossed for you
Burning Man isn't about the stuff you see when you get there ....it's about the people that brought that stuff there

Hey 7chix&me! Welcome to eplaya.
Make certain that you read the Survival Guide http://www.burningman.com/preparation/event_survival/ as it has A LOT of useful information for people. Oh and an extreme no-brainer, check out the stuff here on the forum as there is A LOT of useful information that you just can't find elsewhere. Also, please remember that the search button is your friend. That is great that you were able de-clutter, make money and will have enough for BM tickets! That's awesome!
But, welcome to the forum and hope to see you out on the playa!

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

I read about this in another thread. Right on! Way to be radically self reliant and getting registered on time! I'll be cheering for you!
Welcome to eplaya.
Can you at least admit that nuclear explosions are awesome!?

Hello 2.0!
Re: Yet another Virgin Burner!
Thanks for all the positive comments! Cook and Bri, I've read the survival guide and the recommended reading at least 1000 times and I keep going back!
So far I've researched yurts, geodesic, domes, tents, solar power, dry ice, swamp coolers, and costumes
Keeping my fingers crossed for the lottery!

Welcome to eplaya!
Great idea for raising ticket money!
I was really hoping to wake up today and find an 800ish dollar charge on my card... But sadly we have to keep waiting and crossing our fingers for each other! Good luck!
