This will be my first journey to the ol' Burn
I'm registered and waiting patiently for that confirmation email to arrive in my inbox.
This is going to be one hell of a ride for me, I recently moved to South Carolina from beautiful San Diego, California last summer, and it has put me in a position to be more self reliant and make the burn happen for myself once and for all.
I'll be camping with BASShenge with all of my friends who I left back in California, along with some new ones that I have not met face to face. I know its going to be difficult to manage all the necessary preparations one must make before setting foot on playa but I have no problem believing that it will indeed be the most rewarding experience of my life, given all the stories and experiences that have been shared with me over the past few years of my journey through electronic music, love, mindfulness and like-mindedness.
With that said, I hope to see and make many new friends and family out there on the playa.

Hi Piehole
nice handle.
There are ton's of burners there in So Cal.
But I'm guessing you may know a bunch of them seeing as you'll be comming to camp with BassHenge.
I saw thier propsed set up a while back and thought " wow that's awesome ambitious."
So It looks Like you'll have your work cut out for you.
good luck and see you in the Dust.

Welcome to eplaya.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Hey piehole. Welcome to eplaya.
But, moving from San Diego to South Carolina is definitely a big change! I hope that you're enjoying your time there though. But, it sounds like you'll have a blast with BASShenge, I saw what they're wanting to do and that looks like it'll be a lot of work, but also definitely worth it.

Welcome to eplaya!
It would be great if your tent/yurt/home looked like a pie, and had a hole for a door. Then people could yell "Shut your Pie hole!" and it would be out of love!
Basshenge sounds great, and a lot of work!

Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole

You know . . . a yurt that looked like a pie would not be the hardest thing in the world.

AHAHAHAHA!!! I have never attempted to build a yurt and am sort of leaning towards trying now that you planted this incredible idea in my head.illy dilly wrote:Welcome to eplaya!

How difficult would you say it is on a scale of 1-10 for someone who is semi-good at handy work?
I truly want Basshenge to work and I know it can, my friends have been holding several fundraisers since the beginning of the year and things are looking good. The anticipation is killing me!!!

HexaYurts

I watched one being assembled last year, and it truly looked easier than I had expected. If I had plans to drive down a large vehicle, I'd have a HexaYurt in a heartbeat.

I am also on the hexayurt projects website right now looking at the videos. If its within my means then I MUST do it, I mean it'll just be too perfect since my nickname in real life has been Pie-* since idk, 2001.

Re: This will be my first journey to the ol' Burn
Since your post....
But from what I hear, Hexa Yurts don't seem very difficult. The difficult part seems to be transporting them to the playa, like Savannah said.
The other thing you need to think about is what to put under the HexaYurt, for a floor. I have no idea if most folks use more foam on the bottom.
Though is your name Pie because of the food? or Pie from trig?
If its Pie, like 3.14, then I would do a Munky hut, and I would have the half circle that makes up the monkey hut divided into 3.14 part from the part where it hits the ground on each side. Maybe do a door that shows 3.14 parts,
....sliced like a pie!!!!!!
The amount of time you've spent looking into it, you probably know more than me.piehole wrote: I am also on the hexayurt projects website right now looking at the videos. Oh man all of these ideas are insanely great. I figure if the hexayurt seems like its outta my skillset, the monkey hut + tent idea just might be the way to go.
And my real name is Payam (pronounced Pie-yum), and yes, it came about in math class when we were studying Pi. The ensuing nicknames were PiR^2, 22/7, 3.14 and so on. Then came Pieman, Pieguy, Pieface, Cream Payam
I'm still playing around with what will be the most efficient for me since at this point, I have no idea who or what I'll be riding with nor how much space they'll have for me. AYE this is gonna be challenging

Re: This will be my first journey to the ol' Burn
If you introduce yourself as Piehole at the Burn, you will probably make friends wherever you go.
It remains both funny & awesome.
And how cool, to be able to sign the short version of your name with a π ?
(A friend of mine brought a wheeled pie oven to the Burn and walked around in her apron and cat eye glasses serving pie, which is not much of a departure for her. She's a great lass.)

S'funny, it was moving the opposite direction that finally helped spur me to get to BM: I just came to San Diego from North Carolina. Looks like we swapped coasts, Pieman!
Also - and you've probably heard this a million times but here goes anyhow - after having read Life of Pi, I think your nickname is nothing short of completely badass...
