ACK! The suspense is killing me!!
Re: ACK! The suspense is killing me!!
@Trilobyte. I'm not knocking the ticket people. I am just anxious! The waiting is sooooo hard. At least I can stop checking the "awarded ticket" thread hourly as I have been. More time for sewing hats! LOL

well, the upside to this (for me) is that my tax return *should* already be in my account by then.
win!
win!
Re: ACK! The suspense is killing me!!
I'm the least patient person I know (not BM's problem.) This would drive me crazy if I didn't go for the presale. There must be quite a few people registered. The presale 'scrubbing' only took a day or so.
Can you at least admit that nuclear explosions are awesome!?

Re: ACK! The suspense is killing me!!
I think it's fair to say that many more people are probably registered in the main sale. The pre-sale is typically a tiny drop in the bucket. There are more than 13 times more tickets in the main sale than the pre-sale, and in 2011 approximately 30,000 tickets were sold in January.
Re: ACK! The suspense is killing me!!
So is two days enough time to process all the registrations? I guess the ticket people know how many orders they are going to process and have set aside enough time. But what if there is a snafu and they are unable to process all the of the "winners" by midnight on the first? Waiting doesn't give them any time for fixes to anything that breaks.

Re: ACK! The suspense is killing me!!
I'm actually surprised they told us that the draw won't happen until the 31st-1st. As trilo mentioned, most festivals are pretty tight lipped about a lot of information.. That's pretty cool of BM to let people know that they can take a 5 day break from hitting the refresh button every minute.

Re: ACK! The suspense is killing me!!
Thanks, Trilo! Now I can give my damn CC company a two day window instead of a calling them every three days. And since I forgot THE CARD when I went over to my boyfriend's house last night, now I don't have to worry all day that the drawing might start before I have time to call them again. (where's the smiley for deep sigh of relief?!)
It does stand to reason that scrubbing the list is the most time intensive part. The drawing itself would be automated IMHO. and once the maximum number of registrants is known, the amount of time needed to process them is known too.

Re: ACK! The suspense is killing me!!
I am actually happy about this. My wife and I are trying to practice radical sticking-to-the-budget and I have booked the ticket as a February expense. I felt a little dirty since it could have technically come in January, and my discretionary January budget didn't have the money.Shambala wrote:I am officially cross posting now!

Also, thank you and the org for going ahead and dispensing this information. Now I know when to bounce around the room. I may take a personal day.

Well not exactly on topic and thanks for the news, but I think that post had something more critical to consider.Shambala wrote:Well just frost my butt and call me cupcake!

Oh my dear fishy, the express elevator to the penthouse is right over here. Let me push the button for you!
Re: ACK! The suspense is killing me!!
I would like to amend my previous statement after receiving the JRS newsletter. Now I am worried I won't get a ticket after all. And since I have absolutely zero friends/ acquaintances that go to Burning Man I will probably not be saved by this secondary market that's going to happen.

Re: ACK! The suspense is killing me!!
@Milayna - the secondary sale is just that, an open sale from Burning Man that starts on March 28. You don't need to know anybody for that. The secure ticket exchange program also does not require you to know someone in order to participate. But first and foremost, I hope you're successful in the drawing next week.
