I think you are talking about Harem pants. They are pretty popular right now with the hooping crowd. I personally always think of MC Hammer when I see people wearing them and remember my wonderful 90s childhood

This super stretchy skirt needed something. Strips if gauzy curtain material sewn on in a swirl won't prevent it from stretching. Oooo macarana.

I found this on etsy. It's beautiful. Great. Now I have to spend the day turning all my clothes inside-out.

So you're out on the Playa in your pretty tights and a sarong but you keep reaching for the pocket in your jeans. Think of this as 'comfort clothes'. It's the top portion of some ruined jeans, a long strip of t-shirt gathered around the bottom and the t-shirt neck portion made into a pouch. The pouch is sewn on. The neck of a t-shirt takes a drawstring nicely. Fringed just because.

It was a long skirt. I cut off the top and added a t-shirt pocket. The drawstings are boxing wrap. (How manly).

I couldn't resist the belt. Someone went to a lot of work embellishing. (Just add rubber knife).

If you can't find a snake....gather up all the cutestest small stuffed animals. Just unstuff them 90% and sew them end to end. Kissing, holding hands, tails tangled etc.. I made one last year with a gecko on each end. Oh, I also made an all monkey one. I love the way they wrap. garage sales practically give animals away.

Ok Miss Ratty, after watching this thread for awhile I am finally ready to get off my ass, take stock of what I have and embellish...
Thanks for all the great ideas! i have quite a few plain thrift store items (vests and skirts) that need some glitz or funkifying. I've been feeling rather blah lately so maybe starting on some small bm projects will get me out of the doldrums...

I love this idea so much... I am going to do this for sure! I made my first DIY bra top for my birthday party last weekend... Sort of a belly dance style top with gold adornments and gold chains hanging from the middle. I was so proud of it and had every intention of posting a picture to see what you think Ratty. However, apparently the glue from my gun wasn't strong enough to hold all my adornments and after a full night of dancing my bra wasn't so pretty in the morning, lol. I do plan on repairing it with better fabric glue, and then I'll show ya!

I don't think so, but there is a camp called Kostume Kult, and some other costume camps. One of them (probably KK) would get the costume-seekers to strut down a runway after getting outfitted.
