I feel guilty for getting my ticket in the presale. It's tough to watch everyone freaking out.

Don't feel guilty for having a ticket; you came by it honestly.

Not everyone is freaking out, by a long shot; it's just the ones that do freak out do so both Early and Often.

If 75% are handling it fairly well with nervous patience, it's not going to be apparent.

Hawaiian thrifting? Ah, yeah! Sorta planned a spur of the moment trip to Kauai for late February, so thrifting with BM in mind is now on the agenda! Of course, Kauai being so sleepy, we'll have to see what is on offer.

The trip is sort of like "One Item for BM a Day" because my wife and I always have really active and exhausting vacations. With BM looking to test our endurance for difficult 'vacations', the Kauai trip should take some pressure off come August. But ... we're actually still camping a couple days, haha! I think this HI vacation is necessary for letting go of expectations one typically has for 'vacation' come August. It'll hopefully create some additional capacity for suffering through tough conditions (heat, dust, ooontz ooontz, etc). heh

MyLarry has never been to Kauai, and I went as a child in the 60s, so that may be our next HI destination.
Note, the HI haul was from four different thrift shops. I think tourists buy too many clothes and donate what they don't want, I know I dropped off a few things last time. If you can find a fabric shop, go wild and mail it all home.

Did my taxes! Which may not sound like it's one thing for BM, but a good chunk of the return will go towards key camp elements (i.e tent, cot, monkey hut supplies)

I have a couple yards of pink n green camo tulle. I need to find a good tutu pattern which is not the freaking no-sew version (I hate them with a passion since mine tried to eat my head last year). It would be for MyLarry, so I'm thinking maybe jeans waistband with pockets and pouches above layers of ruffles. A utili-tutu as it were.

Here's what I was thinking of sending. If you like it it's yours. They are 4 pieces. One is pretty big. The others smaller, like 2 or 3 yards. They're a little wrinkled, and I should warn you, I have a cat and dog, so you might want to wash before working with it.

Made the tough decision NOT to clear room on my credit card I used for the ticket lottery...I didn't get a limit increase (my limit is small to begin with, about $1400, and I asked for it to be raised to $2000), and I just don't have the money right now. So...if we decide we can afford the trip, we'll be trying our luck in the open sale or after-market. Part of me is very sad, because I feel we would have won tickets, but I'm also very relieved...I'm not completely broke for the next month!

This old dog has learned something this week, as apparently as have others. My whining has bothered people. I confess my unburny action. Moving on, I got a very nice navy cot at Goodwill for 15 bucks. Brand new in the box from Oakland, white canvas unlike the Army's OD green. It even has the sticks to put up netting or waterproof poncho tent.
