SOPA compliance
Has anyone been thinking about this? Initially avatars and the youtube thread come to mind.

If any law should pass that would require a change in the policies or operation of this board, they'll be made and rolled out as necessary.

we will be forced to submit, as necessary, regardless of SOPA.

Sopa will die. It will die a thousand deaths. If it doesn't and BurningMan is targeted for DNS kick/ban, it will be subjected to the Streisand Effect and gain in popularity. People will do whatever it takes to get to the website (which isn't much given how easy SOPA/PIPA is to circumvent.) Either that, or tickets will start getting less scarce
...All sabre-rattling aside, i don't think the BurningMan forums are that much of a hotbed of unlicensed media. Avatars can be easily removed or blocked, and links removed by moderators. Most php-based forums can also be made fully private, which reduces the likelihood of snooping from outside sources.

After painstakingly researching the new ticket sale system, I have deduced that there is an inverse relationship between fretting about the ticket system, and the length of time one is able to stay aroused during coitus. Please spread the word!

Re: SOPA compliance
I must say that Burning Man has always been "Larger Than Life" from my experience!!! I truly feel that "the lottery" is counter productive to going home.... I do not like (or trust) the way the current process via the lottery is being integrated and forced upon us.
How was it that in 2009 I was able to get a ticket in the 2nd tier and didn't spend 8 hours online to get my ticket and there was almost 50,000 burners that year and then after year that it has no longer been doable?? How many ways do you spell "incompetence" and "mismanagement"? Come on BM Admin... How can you go backwards while you expect more from all of us to get up to speed with your nonsense?
Now I am expected to give all of my info and have over $800.00 available for 2 tickets to Burning Man and then wait for them to deem me acceptable. Then they say that I am supposed to abide by their rules?? What rules???
Burning Man is about honesty and honer and personal responsibility. Now they (BM) requires a blank check and we are supposed to "trust them" and if we are lucky enough to get tickets and then can't go to the event, then to let "them" sell our tickets on our behalf.. Sounds too much like the cooperate grind that I have already had a belly full of, and why this corporate BS is really one of the reasons that going to Burning Man is what I used to love about "going home" in the first place... Yes I have put in for 2 tickets this year, but this is the last time. I empathize with those that put so much time into Theme camps and the dilemma that BM has put on them... i am a simple burner, but always appreciate all of the "Larger Than Life" effort and Love that others put into making my BM experience just what it is, or was... Something very special!!

If we don't clutter up the entire eplaya with our concerns about the lottery system, the borg will never listen!

The only thing I can see is maybe a rope around the neck attached to the headboard before adding more counterweights to make it an oddly entertaining contraption. But then the traction patient might end up like William Wallace.
