What??
Re: What??
In order to facilitate the redistribution of those extra tickets now in circulation, we have set up the Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP). The STEP is a web-based system that will allow Burners to sell their unneeded tickets, and Burners wanting tickets to access them. This will allow for safe and secure transactions in a central place for community-monitored, face-value resales.
Burning Man actively discourages the use of secondary resources (eBay, Craigslist, StubHub, etc.) for the resale of tickets, and we encourage those who do not obtain tickets from the Main Sale/Open Sale to utilize community-centric sources to keep a handle on this process together. Please use STEP and/or direct local connections to known Burners to find the tickets you seek. We will post information on how to access STEP next week.

Re: What??
you might try reading some of the ticketing threads, that is addressed there, ad nauseum........
but, I do think the ORG is setting up a secondary market trading board or some such.

Re: What??
There is going to be a resale system set up soon.
Do I have any options?
After I submitted my application for the "main lottery", my bank sent me a new credit card and canceled my old as there had apparently been some type of 3rd party fraud alert with Bank of America. Now the credit card number I placed on my application is invalid. Guess I will be using the STEP program unless someone knows of a way to get the new credit card number into my application. Any ideas? I emailed the bmorg at the address shown on the bottom of the ticket page, but got no response.

Advice? Close your BoA account.
No seriously.
Stay calm. Read around as Ygmir suggested above.(you did read this whole thread before posting. right?) and use your network of burner friends and re register in the next ticket sale (yeah it costs more and is chancy but ??)
But most important don't freak out. You are a burner. Yes you are doing it wrong but you'll pull it off.

Re: What??
Thanks. Not freaked, just mildly annoyed. I am sure I will get a ticket somewhere down the road. Agree with you about B of A. Have not been too happy with them for some time.
Be interesting to see how this new system shakes out in a few months. For the past 6 years I bought my ticket at a walk-up outlet. Really liked doing it that way!

Re: What??
Was just hoping that by posting here someone would know a way that I could keep my hat in the ring for the main sale random selection.
Re: Do I have any options?
Did you also call (the evil) BofA? The fuckers might be able to re-direct the order using the old cc#, or possibly reinstate the old cc# if you demand they do so. Tell them your career depends on it,say whatever you have to to force them to do what you need, unless it's too late and you got a denial? It might work, but who knows this late in the (game) lottery.Tazz wrote:After I submitted my application for the "main lottery", my bank sent me a new credit card and canceled my old as there had apparently been some type of 3rd party fraud alert with Bank of America. Good luck in the step/open pahses of the ticket sales!! see you in da dust...
I'm the MAN in a truck, burner who is stuck, you're in luck! I'll whip out my BIG tow chain and not charge you, not even one lousy buck!
Re: What??
A big dusty playa hug to bmorg. they contacted me today and let me submit a new application with the new Visa number. So happy I would dance, but may frighten my patients at work!

Re: What??
Yay! I'm glad to hear it worked out for you. the thing I'm most nervous about is getting a fraud flag from my CC company. I'm calling them tomorrow to try to preauthorize the charge again just to make sure they don't get overzealous in fraud prevention, should I be lucky in the draw.
I'm not a slut, I'm good time floozy!
Re: What??
My CC company recently called me about fraud on my card, shut down the number, and sent me a new one. I just went through the contact page as Tazz mentioned above, and I've got my fingers crossed for similar results.

Re: What??
No dice... just heard back from the ticket folks. They couldn't update my info, and asked that I call my CC provider and ask them to authorize the charges from Burning Man. I called them, and they told me that once the card was flagged for fraud/theft, that the number is deactivated for all purchases with no exceptions.
I hope I'm able to still get tickets somehow...
Re: What??
Sorry, xotis.
That was a bad bit of luck for you with the cc fraud on your card, for sure.
There will be another 10,000 tickets for sale in March, as well as a resale program from Burner-to-Burner called STEP.
