'04 Assault Witnesses?

Post by Flackmaster » Tue Sep 07, 2004 11:05 pm

Okay I know there is little chance that the person will get caught or that I will recover my property but it will help my healing process to try. About 11 pm sat after the burn I was bike jacked. I was riding alone in a dark area between the remains of the man and the Temple when male about 5'10" 180 on foot rammed into me, knocked me off my bike and punched me several times.... just so he could steal my $50 playa bike. I now have a broken left arm, black eye and general fear of people that is going to be hard to shake. He had white clown makeup on his face, leather gloves and dark clothing...probably a jump suit

It was dark but i know at least 10 people were close by and saw something.

I also have a feeling he was the kind of person who would brag about it or who may have done it more than once during the event.

I did file a criminal report. If you have any additional information the case
number is 04-329 ...contact the rangers, Pershing County or me directly

The bike was an undecorated 1990 Trek HardRock with a black Blackburn rack and a single saddle black bag, 4-LED headlight. I'm sure he just ditched it somewhere, but just knowing it was recovered would also mke me feel better

This sounds like the description of a guy around the 9-0clock position of L2K who seemed to try to run into the fire as the Man fell. I don't remember if I was told about this by a Ranger or one of the Helmsmen (we were the folks with the flashlights keeping time for the Conclave performers). If I hear more about it I'll let you know.

wow. i am so sorry. one of the wonderful things about black rock city is how safe i feel there and it sickens me to hear that there are people who disrespect the community like that. i'm sorry i can't be more helpful, but you have my sympathy.

It really sux to know that there are people like that at burning man. This was my first year, I had the best time of my life. I witnessed no drama, or any fighting or anything, but Im sure of 35,00 people there was more than the bike thing. It just pains me to hear that shit like that is going down, it would have ruined my whole experience. Sorry to hear that it happened to you...people like that dont belong at burning man.

So very sorry to hear about your experience. You have a good attitude, not daming the whole of BM, communicateing, and being proactive in your recovery. Even if the fuckhead who assaulted you is not caught this time around, rest assured that his shit will catch up with him.......someone like him is bound to place himself in jeapordy , he will get fucked by someone bigger and meaner, or by repeating similar actions he will get caught by the authorities, or caught in some crossfire. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword My heart goes out to you....feel better and in time this will be behind you.
Stay hydrated my friend.

That's terrible man. I heard you talk about the on the radio down there the day after and I was bummed. I hope that you are doing well and that somehow you get your bike back.

sooooo sorry you had to experience this. This was my first burn and I felt so safe there.. but i guess people are people.. there are good people and bad people and with 30000 people.. im sure bad things happened:( It would be nice if the person could be caught and banned from coming to bm in the future years. I dont know how anyone can be so mean and it angers me to hear that anyone could do that. I send to you a speedy recovery and warm thoughts to help you through this.

I remember when you walked through our camp with Lady Bee, and I'm so glad to hear that it may be working out in your favor. Good Luck to you Flackmaster.
