Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
STEP may work out just fine. That ebay listing is now closed as mentioned above. Keep up the positivity, and the love.
If anything this process may be trying to teach me to give credit to the authenticity of the greater community and to totally hate scalpers. Maybe that was what BMORG was thinking, who knows but we've all got 7 more months of hope, and that's probably enough time to figure it out.
Congrats again and hopefully when I wake up I'll have an email one way or another. Good luck!

I'm curios if anyone who put in at the 390 tier received a 320 tier ticket? Which I believe is another way of asking if over 15,000 people put in at the 390 tier.

I nearly had a heart attack! I saw I had one new email in my inbox! I got so excited! But sadly...it wasn't what I expected. (Damn you Lonely Planet newletter! LOL.) *I'm laughing on the outside, but crying on the inside!!*
Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
It would be nice if someone would post a status somewhere. Like: "As of this time [date-time] we have awarded [X] amount of tickets. We [are/are not] drawing more. We still have [X] amount to draw. You [still have/have no chance] to get an email saying you won." You know?
Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
It's probably not very reasonable to assume that there isn't somebody in the office monitoring this 48h ticket-dispensing blitz. We have confirmations that people were receiving tickets after business hours, which would be 9am to 5pm PST, because there were tickets being dispensed at 6pm. And 7pm, and 10pm, and midnight, and 1am, and 3am. To say at 4am "they're closed now" when they weren't a few minutes before is, umm, not reasonable.dingokiller wrote:Even though this is a computerized process, I doubt they will issue tickets outside of business hours as if anything went wrong you would need to have people working to resolve it.
Looks like tickets are being drawn from around 9am - 5pm, you have 4 hours before drawing will potentially start again.
Besides, if they only dispensed tickets between 9am and 5pm, it's 9:30 now and nobody has reported getting anymore tickets.
Heavy on preparations, light on expectations.

I've received the all clear from the ticketing team. The drawing has completed, and emails are being sent out now to those who were not awarded tickets.
The ticketing vendor had staff on hand to monitor the process closely throughout, and they've worked through the night to get the drawing processed and tickets awarded.

I believe your intent is noble, but you're going about removing those tickets in a dishonest way, in my opinion. Ebay allows the preselling of items. The ticket doesn't need to be in the seller's hands, for them to sell it, if they say that in the listing. I'm not saying it's a good idea to buy pre-sale items, or to buy BM tickets on eBay at all. I'm just saying they aren't necessarily breaking eBay policy.lemur wrote:you should use the REPORT function on ebay to remove these postings.Sellers need to follow these guidelines when selling tickets on eBay.
* I agree not to sell, trade, produce, or advertise tickets that I do not have in my possession.
i did.
"REPORT CATEGORY: LISTING PRACTICES"
"REASON FOR REPORT: OTHER LISTING PRACTICES"
"DETAILED REASON: ITEM LOCATION MISREPRESENTATION"
(none of the other choices seem to make as much sense as this one)
none of these people will have their tickets.
i am pretty sure EBAY will be able to put two and two together... i hope so at least.

Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
My spirits were beginning to flag a bit as I turned in last night with no notification, but upon awakening this morning I see that I received my notification at 1:15 a.m.! I ordered only one ticket in the $240 tier.
Of course with only one ticket, this means that my manservant, Higgenbotham, will have to be shipped in via the BRC Post Office, but I've found that they deliver reliably by Wednesday or Thursday most years.

Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
Curious. I was under the impression that everyone who entered lottery would be in the first tier draw. If you did not win and had agreed to a higher price, you would then be eligible for the next tier, etc. Friends started posting about winning tier three tickets early on yesterday. Hours later I received confirmation for second tier tickets (my maximum bid) yet no word of anyone getting first tier yet. How can I be included in first tier round when it hasn't been drawn and I was already awarded second tier? Something not right here. Maybe it is just me, but it seems that those agreeing to higher tiers were drawn first and if you didn't get picked for higher tier you are then stepped down to a lower tier. Maybe I am not following the process but by all appearances, it is backward logic. Logic and fairness would call for everyone entered to be in the drawing for first tier. If not awarded there, and agreed to pay next tier, moved to the next round and so on. It feels as if all who agreed to third tier maximum were awarded first, removing them from the drawings for lower levels. Next all that agreed to maximum second tier awarded, removing them from first tier drawing. Then all remaining are in drawing for first tier. Punishes those willing to pay more by removing them from chances of lower tier awards, rewards corporation by optimizing amount of tickets sold at higher prices first and not risking loss of higher sale price to those who may have been awarded a lower tier but were willing to pay more. Just an observation.
Here today, gone to Maui.

Likewise. Good luck in STEP!
There's always the March sale as well, but I don't think I can stomach another epic wait like this.

Vivid Seats and Stub Hub, two well known legit vendors, have claimed Burning Man Tickets for a month or more already. Must have got a stash of those pre-sales. This might be something the Burning Man crew should look into. They are selling in the $650.00 - $800.00, depending how many tickets you buy. I know that vivid seats is legit, because I have bought from them numerous times for sporting events.TT120 wrote:No love for me this morning.
Stubhub says thay have 74 tickets available starting at $637.
SUBJECT: Speculative Ticket Sales Found
Greetings!
It has come to my attention that there are on offer 80 tickets for sale for an event where none of the tickets are actually possessed by the individuals offering them for sale.
The STUBHUB user agreement refers to this type of item as a "SPECULATIVE TICKET ". (section 2.1a(III)
"Speculative tickets or 'spec tickets' are tickets that are listed for sale or sold before the seller actually owns the tickets. Listing or selling speculative tickets is not permitted. StubHub reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to remove your listing, cancel a sale, require you to send your tickets to the Buyer within a specific time after your tickets sell, issue you a warning, or temporarily or permanently suspend you from using StubHub's Site or Services if it suspects you of listing or selling speculative tickets."
(source: http://www.stubhub.com/user_agreement/ )
It should be known that All of the tickets for this event are "SPECULATIVE TICKET" sales:
Burning Man 2012
(source: http://linktoburningmanticketsonstubhubremoved )
Confirmation of "SPECULATIVE TICKET" Status is found here:
"Physical tickets from ALL THREE sales (except those that were designated to be held at Will Call, which includes most international orders) will be mailed in June 2012."
(source:http://tickets.burningman.com/)
Todays Date is February 1 2012. As tickets will not be mailed until June 2012 All of the tickets listed for this event are in fact "SPECULATIVE TICKETS"
I know that STUBHUB is very concerned about the interests of its customers. I would hope to see that these listings be removed before any customer unknowingly buys a "SPECULATIVE TICKET"
I believe that STUBHUB is very concerned about the protection of its customers, this can be seen in the FANPROTECT GUARANTEE.
I would hope that STUBHUB, a name that many people have come to trust, would stand up to its commitment to protect its customers by removing all of the listings for the "BURNING MAN 2012" event until such time as the tickets are actually in the hands of the individuals selling the tickets (June 2012).
Thank you for your time!
-Sincerely:
A concerned Customer.

Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
Here's one for you...
My best friend was awarded two tickets when he only requested one. As in, two different confirmation emails, two different bank charges for the same amount. This might work out well for me as I sadly am not a winner... but is there a chance that the system catches it and deletes his second ticket/confirmation? Has anyone else heard of this happening?
We went back and checked his confirmation for registering and it only says 1 ticket there too. What gives?
Also... although I know I shouldn't be getting off topic 'neverfallindown' its people like you who are changing what burning man stands for. If you don't know what all the hate is about GO BACK TO THE FIRST TIMERS GUIDE, READ THE PRINCIPLES, and then understand why that comment is one of the saddest things I've seen all day (including my empty inbox)

The answer is never no.
Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
Only 80 right now, yeah, but many have already sold. And there are MANY websites like it, some with a lot more than 80. And thousands on eBay, Craiglist, and other auction/classified sites. And offline as well.5280MeV wrote:The STUBHUB user agreement refers to this type of item as a "SPECULATIVE TICKET ". (section 2.1a(III)
The good thing is that out of what is likely now over 20,000 tickets distributed, there are only 80 on Stubhub. That is under 0.5%.
As many as 5-10% of all 2012 Burning Man tickets could be scalped, and I bet you that every single one of them will end up in the hands of some eager Burner before the end of August. Some will have paid as much as $1000 or more for each ticket.
It's too early to be sure, but it's shaping up to be the best year for tickets scalpers in the history of the event.

Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
Fuck... I didnt get a ticket... Guess I'll be applying for low income because theres no way I can afford a 390 in March. (My daughter kills my wallet)
Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
we don't know how they did the drawing, and they're not saying. we can only go by when people got their emails, which
may have processed in a completely different order than the drawings were done in. transparency is not part of the process here.
personally, i'm concerned about the 'scrubbing' that was performed. Say you have a household (same address) with 4 people who
want to go, so 2 of you register for 2 tickets each (using different names & CC's at the same address) If they remove dupes based
on address alone, then one those requests never had chance. is that fair? we'll never know...

Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
Maybe the system noticed you were 2 people trying for 3 tickets? Apparently, they had ways of knowing, and were dropping people's lottery entries because of it.The_brave_M wrote:Hi!
