Don't feel bad that you got your tickets. We all played the same game.

IMHO it was the game that sucked, not the winners.

Where there is a will, there is a way - and most of here have pretty strong will! It just will likely hurt our wallets a lot more than in previous years. The price of success.

On a flip note, here's hoping for some seriously nasty weather at this years burn! Demand usually falls after a nasty weather year, and we are so due for that after two crazy easy years!

Nice notion :)
Unfortunately it just isn't the case. Many people within the organization are profiting personally off Burning Man. The amounts aren't disclosed because there's no transparency, but we know for a fact that there are plenty of non-volunteers. I'm not saying that's bad, just popping your idealistic balloon, sorry.

Note that Burning Man tickets are going up by about 10 to 20% per year, whereas the rate of inflation in the USA is about 1% according to the government. Maybe the fireworks are getting brighter and louder... or maybe somebody's making a little more "evil" profit. Perhaps a bit of both.

Is anyone still receiving tickets (currently ~10:00 PST)?

Did anyone who requested 2 tickets only get awarded one? Is that supposed to happen?

I don't have internet or cell service at home, but I happened to have to go to a meeting in town later in the evening last night. Checked my email on my phone before I went home. Turns out, I got my ticket confirmation 12 minutes after I left work. I screamed like a little girl. So happy to be coming back, and to have my husband coming with me this time.

No joy for me either except for the ones that did get their tickets. I'm happy for them.

No--apparently orders are either fulfilled entirely or not at all. The default order, unless one changes the default using the drop-down menu, is 1 ticket. We've heard of people accidentally leaving the default (1) in place when they wanted 2. (Or leaving "Will Call" in place when they intended to select "Shipping").

If a person thinks they've requested 2 but received 1 they should look at their original registration confirmation from the 2 week January period; it shows what a person requested at the time. This is the place where user error usually shows.

However, if the registration says "2" and a person was granted 1, they should visit this link:

Got up this morning to one new email: Groupon. Checked my new spam emails: Viagra. Sigh. I've wanting to go to BM for many years, and actively waiting since this time last year. If I don't get a low income ticket now, I'm out. Congrats to everyone who played fair and got their tickets! Personally, I'm going to go be bitter now.... :(

Oh wait, regarding STEP - Does anyone know if the redistributed tickets will be at their original price? As in, will a returned 240 ticket return to the pool at 240? Or does everything automatically go up to 390? I'm sure this will be addressed in my rejection letter, but I'm curious.

PS - I'm LOVING the retro posters!

I am in shock. Not a single person from my camp was awarded tickets. We were all registered individually for the highest tier. I have no words.

Woke up to the best gift I could receive today (even though I paid for it  )

Congrats to everyone that also made it and lots of positive thoughts to those that haven't yet. We will all make it happen!

I've never entered a lottery in my life, until now. Turns out my skepticism of random draws was right! I lost. :(
organizedchaos wrote:My best friend was awarded two tickets when he only requested one. As in, two different confirmation emails, two different bank charges for the same amount. We went back and checked his confirmation for registering and it only says 1 ticket there too.
Ouch! Stuff like that is going to rub even more salt in the wounds of those of us who lost the lottery. Thank you for being honest that you benefited from BMORG's mistake. I wonder how many others had the same experience and just aren't going to mention it? :(

Damn, I've been playing games with myself...up late taking out garbage, and when I returned one wastebasket to my office would NOT let myself check emai "just one more time". Went to bed around 4am, cat woke me up and I finally got up to feed him & get coffee..."will NOT check email until I pee, feed cat & get coffee", checked email and there were 51 fucking notifications for a thread I posted on in Facebook where some douchebag complained the 'lottery sucked' because he got 2 $390 tickets.

Nothing from burningman. I haven't gotten a 'you lost' email either but, DAMN!!!!

I guess I'd better check my credit card, since the emails could be going out slow......

"Condolences to those who weren't." Does this mean that they have finished drawing for all 40,000 tickets or do you mean "to those who are still waiting to hear."?

I received my confirmation last night - checked my email while driving home and nearly drove off the road in my excitement.

Still, it's hard to feel like celebrating when so many people are ticketless. Congrats to all those who got tickets; to those who didn't - there's still hope. Hang in there. {hugs}

I guess we got tickets. My credit card was charged for them, I haven't received any notifications. My sister got a notifications and hasn't been charged. Her boyfriend did not have either happen. I had my tickets in hand the second week of February last year.Burning Man is not off to a great start this year.

Big congrats to everyone who got their confirmation already, though :P
Call your credit card company and make sure they didn't fraud flag the transaction. In the presale, someone posted about that happening. Total suck on the credit card issuer.
Thanks for the suggestion... Not a fraud charge, but another limit I was unaware of that I have since had lifted. That means no ticket for me this round. I'll get one in STEP or open market though, so I'll see you all there :)
