Damn.... can't believe there are already 9 pages of comments on here and this is the first time I've remembered to look at 2012 instead of 2011. Hello Barbiarians. The Barbie Day Spa will return in 2012 and we look forward to rubbing you the wrong way.. or the right way... just so long as we get to rub you. Looks like most of last years crew is coming, along with a couple of potential newbies. If anyone has an interest in helping at the spa part time let me know. We can always use more helpers. Fingernail painting, toenail painting, foot wash/massage, body wash/massage, wine, and maybe even some hair washing this year. If Brazil Nut is out there reading this, we loved having you help at the spa last year... hope you can make it again.

Rubbing, painting and dyeing OH MY!!

Brushes for Black Rock City Body & Paint have been procured. There should be plenty.

Happy Friday All!

Fellow Barbiebarians lend me your ears. Tomorrow begins the lottery for tickets. Should, when the dust settles, you end up with more tickets than you need, before placing them in the resale queue or Craigs List or what have you, set them aside for your Villagemates. We pay good money to be in the Best Damn Theme Camp on the playa, and membership has its privileges. Between me, Felony Arson, and Blowfish, we will be able to distribute any extra tickets, at cost, to our fellow Barbiebarians. How we decide who gets the tickets has not been ironed out yet and we are happy to take suggestions. But I implore you, it is a privilege being part of our camp/village. This is one of those things that makes our camp so successful. So please, before turning in those tickets, let us help one another. Otherwise, you may as well be part of Gigsville or the Spenard Bar.

It is great to know community spirit ends at the perimeter line of BARBIE DEATH VILLAGE..

I'd say, that totally illustrates community spirit!!
BDV is a community, and cares for their own.
Nothing wrong with that and, in fact it's to be applauded, IMHO.
And, I'd bet, (knowing them as I do) if they had tickets, above their own needs, they'd do the right thing by other burners as well.

doc is selling the idea of my-interests-first community spirit!!

surely, if people actually had community spirit they wouldnt need to be sold on the idea...

how this reads to me is Doc openly discouraging people from sharing resources with the community at large.. in favor of BDC interests

i might have been born at night.. but i wasnt born last night! i know a sales shtick when i see one..

I am fine with people looking after their own.. thats great.. thats what makes a community..

but if you need to sell that idea to people what are you really doing? what kind of community needs to remind its own to look after its own ?

hear hear! (or whatever the right spelling would be to agree with what doc said)

Sure, maybe we shouldn't need to be reminded to look out for our own. But it doesn't hurt to show support :)

I realize I am a "newbie" this year. But if you would like my help I'd be willing to help out part-time. I love doing nails...obviously there is no need for acrylic and/or gels out on the playa - but I would be more than happy to lend my hand in painting! My specialties are zebra stripes and newly, tie-dye. I can pretty much do any other designs (stripes, polka dots) but those are the more complicated ones I'm good at. Let me know if you would like my help!

Bri,
Absolutely!! We'd love to have your help at the spa. Feel free to email me directly or just stop by the Spa when you get to the playa and let me know when you are available. We probably won't decide what hours we are 'open' until we get there and see how many volunteers we have, but typically we are open for about 4 hours every afternoon. In true burner spirit those hours are flexible, may change from day to day, and could be extended if we are having too much fun. See you there... and thanks for volunteering.

Ninzy... sorry you didn't stop in to visit; so much to see and so little time. Maybe this year! Send me the info on that oil and maybe we can get some for the spa.

As someone who didn't get a ticket in the lottery and who is planning to camp with Dye With Dignity at BDC, it is an incredible relief to know that BDC is looking out for its campers. While there are no guarantees, it keeps the hope alive. THANKS :D

I'm worried if I don't get a ticket, I won't be able to go this year. I want and need to be there.
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Your looking out for one another is what your village should be doing. It takes a Village to raise an Idiot! LOL! Doc can use all the help he can get!
Hell we've been tending to him faithfully for 6 years! On and off playa! BOOYAA

Terminal City'zens are doing the same.

It really does take Village's to raise a City!

Hang in there Barbiebarians! Last year after the sell out, we had multiple village-mates in need of a ticket, no-one ( that I know of) in our village missed the burn last year due to lack of tickets. This year appears to be more challanging, but it is still early in the game. I know it is hard with the uncertainty, I too am short a ticket, but IMHO once the Playa dust settles like last year, we'll all have our tickets-inside and outside the village.

hello everybody!! I hope everyone is making the best out of this ridiculous ticket situation and chaos.

I was hoping maybe we could get an idea of who does and who doesn't have tickets within our camp at the moment.
That way we can all start working together to ensure that everyone does get a ticket.

idk...maybe this is a little early considering the second sale isn't until the end of March.
I'm just eager to make sure I get to meet all the awesome people in this camp :D

Fin
:) I LOVE your enthusiasm!! We would love to have your help at the spa. Scalp massage for sure and hair washing if we can solve the water issue. I'm looking at a couple of options to get more water and a way to dispose of it. Our camp does a lot of hair washing at our local regional burn, Flipside, but we have plenty of water there and they don't object to using the grey water on the trees. At BM it is a different story, but there is a huge demand for hair washes so I'm trying to find a solution. We might end up offering hair wash just a couple of afternoons or until we run out of water for it. Stay in touch, and be sure to stop by the spa when you get to the burn so that we can figure out schedules.
