Hurricane Fances Blew Me

Post by Simply Joel » Wed Sep 08, 2004 7:10 am

I was back to work yesterday morning.... sat out Hurricane/Tropical Storm Frances on Treasure Island, FL... got some cool shells... drank some wine, ate some steaks with a couple of phellow burners in Sarasota on Saturday, drank some beers and got a little sun on Friday before the storm....

sit through a hurricane again? damn straight.

I have one more day to unpack and wallow in the dust. I miss it. I wonder if I can get a sick day off for the Blackrock city Flu.

I'm back in the corporate saddle again today.

I got back home Sunday night, and did absolutely nothing on Monday. Yesterday I unloaded the truck and discovered I had a flat tire. Rode the bus to work this morning in a glow of contentment.

I'm at my desk in a haze of ... playa dust? Dunno'. Everything around me sure is murky, though. Maybe I'm not ready to be back at work, yet.

I tried tracking you down a couple of times. For some reason I kept missing you at Hushville (I was camped at Neptune and 4:50. I tried to get into Uranus, but there was no room...) and I was hoping that you (and Rian, and several others) would show up at the meet and greet.

Hey, there's always next year (I am recruiting a group even now) and if that doesn't work... well... something will. But I really did try to track you down...

I blame Rob the Wop's .... uh... concoction. It kicked my ass very hard... Did you get any?

The family vacation this year allows for the trip home to the playa in 2005.

I am! whoooo dog!!!

midway back I had a bit of an emotional breakdown, all those experiences (some of which I can't remember everything of) still lingering in a ghostly fashion over the playa, echoing in my head. I wish I had known about this years ago.

heh... I keep talking to people like I'm still on the playa, and people respond with a look of, "who the hell is this?"

Just got back last night and have so many beautiful, dusty costumes thrown all over my art studio...fuck it!
I was trying to take a nap and look where I ended up!
Yep...right here on the Eplaya!
I'm not ready for the real world yet!
Thank God I can go to dream land and replicate the whacked out, random images of the Playa...even if only for a little while...
Love you guys!

Went to work yesterday. Felt depressed. Punched in the stoopid time clock and three of the girls I work with said, "what are YOU doing here? You're not on the schedule today." I smiled REALLY big, whispered "bye", walked backwards to the time clock, punched out, ran down the stairs to my bike and ended up sitting all morning at Java Jungle, talking to Burners and watching the Truckee River go softly by.

Arrived back, had two days to get my shit together.
I slept (lots), drank my favorite playa beer, and started planning for next year... I think I have a problem, he he he...

I agree... I've got the playa map out, figuring out where the best location for a camp would be; I've been drawing plans for a kickass dome with full furnishings; an art car that will cost way to much to build and take way too much time; and working on a performance piece having to do with William Shakespeare and fairies... and I've been back four days...

The Starship Palomino is back at berth getting refit for its next voyage to the playa, glad many of you found the "magic chocolate" (m&ms) dispenser on the back of the "Bedrock trike", it was a lot of fun pedaling that thing around. Geez but I picked a good year to build a wind generator...it held together, though I heard tales of folks turning around and leaving the city Tues-Weds to escape the gales. Go radical weather! Thanks to all who helped make the city so wonderful this year. I've been going over to the bus at lunch every day, munching leftover m&ms, breathing dusty air and dreaming of what to do for 2005. Maybe this will be the year I find a boyfriend who wants to travel with me to Black Rock City.
