HOW TO GET YOUR CLOTHES PLAYA-FREE!

Post by playadoc » Thu Sep 09, 2004 9:17 am

Well, I have to tell you all that the rumours are true...

In a word - "VINEGAR"!

Last night I took all my playafied clothing to the laundromat and put white wine vinegar (mine was 5% acidity) in the wash as a substitute for where one would normally use bleach...

My clothes came out not only smelling clean (not vinegary), but COMPLETELY playa-free! Supposedly the alkaline nature of playa bonds with the vinegar's acidity.

Try it out... I was totally amazed. :)

I did a load yesterday and there's the last of my laundry going through the dryer now. I've added half a cup of rice wine vinegar to the wash and it's worked like a charm.

On the Playa, you can add vinegar to your washwater for anything, though I prefer to add lime or lemon juice to my shower water so I don't walk around smelling like a pickle. I also found that the Clorox disinfecting wipes work pretty much on everything; apparently they have something acidic in them because it cuts the alkali beautifully.

I was using distilled white vinegar in my footbath; always reminded me of Easter eggs, personally - and considering some of the brightly-colored people I saw during the week, I may not have been that far off....
