I was a bit speechless when I realized a day ago that I had been awarded tickets to Burning Man. I feel quite lucky and pretty overwhelmed with joy... I'm already reading in and trying to plan a bit, as I don't know if I'll have a vehicle of my own at this point to get from New York to Nevada. The rideshare section of this site looks promising. Tips from past New York Burners will be totally appreciated along the way, though!
Can't wait to meet my fellow Burners in August!

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Hey there! Welcome to Eplaya! Congrats on getting tickets. Be sure you read the Survival Guide (many many many times, then read it again....and again). Check out the regionals in your area, most of them have groups on facebook too. This place is full of useful and useless tips, so dive on in and have some fun!

hi Elephant! Welcome to the board.
The 2012 rideshare board will be active by June--or so--and there is also (usually) a rideshare desk on the first floor of the Reno airport near baggage claim if something falls through.
