And a weird thing to do on my sobriety birthday (2/3/88!!), but I bought six bottles of Texas wine to put in the burningman stash.

Congrats hun! My dad is also one. He goes to Sturgus every year. We actually has a talk about burning man and sturgus last night and how hard It would be to be in AA and go to events like these. He has been in NA and AA for over 15 years now. I am so proud of him and of you! I know sounds stupid but I know it is hard as hell. Im a food addict. (No joke) so yeah. Awesome for you!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there are several camps on the playa that have AA/similar meetings throughout the week and other camps that are devoted to creating a supportive, no-alcohol home base.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
yep yep that is correct. There is indeed something for everyone. We originally weren't going to have wine or anything at Dye with Dignity but since we are part of Barbie Death Camp and Wine Bistro, why not? We are offering a variety of juices too, as it is sometimes difficult to find anything but cranberry juice when out and about. One evening Ken and I had been out exploring the deep playa and came rolling into a blues camp. There was a fabulous live blues band playing some of my favorite tunes and the little bar there made us this fabulous juice, bubbling, cold drink. One of my favorite memories and one of the best drinks i've ever had.ensimismada wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there are several camps on the playa that have AA/similar meetings throughout the week and other camps that are devoted to creating a supportive, no-alcohol home base.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
I've read reports similar to this several times and it saddens me. I don't drink alcohol - simply don't have the taste for it - so I'm expecting to awkwardly turn down quite a few kind offers of drink. I hope it doesn't make me out to be paranoid about being dosed, especially when I'm honestly very thirsty, just not for a beer/wine/cocktail.tamarakay wrote: We are offering a variety of juices too, as it is sometimes difficult to find anything but cranberry juice when out and about.

Anybody out there who is going to think you're paranoid for not wanting to drink out there is probably not someone you'd want to spend a lot of time with anyway.

Thanks for the reassurance, Fishy! I'll try to stay positive. Maybe this is a chance for me to respond to offers with offers of my own. "No beer for me, thanks, but would you like some pineapple juice?"
Also, lest I drive this thread completely away from the topic, I'd also like to report that I got a breezy skirt in my favorite color and an outrageous tiger-print, black-fur-trimmed tie at Goodwill today.

getting parts for chandeliers together. copper wire, plastic jewels, lamp finials, tops and bottoms. I got a box of these some jewely and hangy.

lots of leds etc.
re not drinking at Burning Man. There's a world of things people do and do not do there. It's crazy how people expect, or fear, that there is actually a typical experience. I handle my own deal, you know? I want everyone to burn their own burn. My experience being a non-drinker has been a non-issue for me with regards to how others respond to it, or whether or not I have a good time. If I were newly sober I would make plans and find the easier places to go, and there are lots.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I never played dress up as a girl, as most of you know last year was the first time I had ever worn a tutu in my life. It's amazing to me that you can capture that crazy fun childhood anything is possible feeling.

Never played dress-up as a girl?! Was it a lack of interest, or a lack of opportunity? (Not that you have to say.)
What's your aesthetic and favorite colors? (Besides purple . . . that one is clear). I thought I heard you say "1920's" once, but I might be misremembering.
You never know when someone here has something they want a good home for.

Lack of opportunity. By all accounts I should be a serial killer
I love the 1920's, and any vivid bold color. Reds and purples, but if a soft color has some sparkle to it, i love that too.
This past year has been a year of exploration for me clothing wise. I've spent a lot of time in my previous years trying to blend into the crowd. Not so much this year, and It's all YOU GUYS FAULT lol
