How is this possible?

We have hundreds of camps, each with anywhere from a dozen to 100+ members.

We have a lottery with random selection.

Distribution should show a LOT of variance. Some camps might get 30% of the tickets they need. Other camps might get 75% of the tickets they need. There might be some that received 0%, and some that got 100% notifications. The distribution should be all over the place, anywhere from 0% to 100%

Instead, as everyone is finding out, and even the Borg reported this....dozens of camps are all showing 20-25% It seems the rest are even lower.

My camp is at 15%

This is not only very very odd...but its a mathematical improbability.

I apologize. I wasn't aware of three things.

1. Only certain people are allowed to post on a topic.

2. It's proper etiquette to go through 1000 posts on the off-hand chance one may say something related to your thought.

That is all.

(No it isn't: there is a global 30% success rate at obtaining tickets in the lottery. Everybody had approx. a 30% chance of winning a ticket. This is why you're seeing almost universal reports of 30% success.)

Really? Really? You think that it was worth posting about your 15% and that it is impossible... if it is impossible then how did it happen. And if you are going to post it means you wanted a response...

And yes I reckon it would have taken you about 5 mins to work out that lots of people are saying the same thing - so why start a whole new thread.

And yes I am a bit pissed at you right now.

ok i promised i would stay off the ticket threads but this deserves answering.

1 anyone can post on a topic. but stupid posts get mocked we usually wait for the second page but most ticket conspiracy threads dont get that far

2 yes yes it is or you could read the thread titles and have a guess its not that difficult

I don't have a personal stake in this nor was I offended by your post. However, ePlaya does not function smoothly when people create new threads on topics that have been well hashed in other threads. If everyone did that, there would be 1,000 threads all of the same stuff and be impossible to follow and lots of cross-posting. There is an implicit organization to the forums.

A real world equivalent, would be if you walked into a political meeting half-way through, whose focus is on how to raise tax revenues to avoid a budget cut, and you declare in a loud voice "Hey has anyone considered raising taxes to avoid the budget cut?" Its not only redundant and annoying but also inconsiderate to those who have spend the last 2 hours discussing just that topic. So yes, it is better to at least peruse the titles of the posts to make sure that something so elemental and obvious hasn't already been covered

easy fix: log on to eplaya; select the TICKETS category; in the upper right corner click on MARK TOPICS READ; then go back to main index; then unread posts.

the list goes magically from five pages to less than one...
