hey,
I saw a couple of good bands - can anyone id them for me?
1- an instrumental surf guitar band, they played a mutant bus/mobile bar a few times and also the band stage on esplanade around 9.30 to 10.00 (location) on friday night.
2- a guitar/keyboard rock/electronic band playing a bar tent on mercury around 8.00 (location) or so on friday night 2am-ish, dressed in white with "1" "2" "3" and "4" on their shirts.
cheers.

ha!
Man or Astroman used to be one of my all time favs. then they started doing the "clone" shows with a member or two from the original line up and fill-in people. i threw the towel in at that point.-(if they were to tour again as a whole, i'd see them for old times sake).
check out the Mermen albums, "Krill Slippin", "Songs for the cows", "a lethal euphoria". superior albums -- they're latest isn't my favorite, but worth a buy.
amazing show to see live -(which you did). in the past they have been known to play insanely loud. but i think they've toned it down a bit. -(jim used to throw ear plugs to people at venues as a forewarning). kinda bummed they lost their original bass player Allen Whitman. he added a certain persona to the band. -- they are all very good people though.
if you live in san fran, you can check jim's shitones project out on thursdays at the Beach Chalet at Ocean beach.
first Mermen show i got to see was at the '98 burn, right before the burn.
i had been listening to them for about 3 years prior to that show and had no idea they were playing that night, and almost crapped when i heard minutes before they were playing center camp.
love your fishies.

The band at 8oclock and mercury.
Dearest Burner,
The band you saw was great! I was camping next door at club med, and know the band you speak of. It was 7:00 and Mercury, and the club was a bunch of guys from england, and one from Ireland. So umm...Good luck in your search! I wish I could be of more service to you...If I remember any more I shall write back.
