Good news, I went on a hike in Hawaii. Only a mile or so, but I've not been able t do that for years now.

Dang, the food was good, as we found a real Tiki Bar.

I seem to have a perennial winter weight cushion, but my blood pressure at the doc's today was 106/76. A new low. The nurse had previous years' readings at hand and was surprised, too. I'm even back on coffee for the Winter. Maybe it was the mega-salads I've been having for dinner more often. Those salad containers are huge and a little pricey ('cause I spring for the organic) and I hate to waste food, so I tend to get a lot of mileage out of the potential shame of not-eating it.

My bra size is getting smaller and my pants are looser. I must be doing well. I hate scales.

Dang it, my fasting blood sugar tested at 115. I have to go back in for a blood test. Time to step it up.

I've kept to my diet this week and have hooped not so much for fun but for the cardio. That was interesting to say the least. I put on a tv show on netflix (Hoarders! Yikes!) and just waist hooped with my first hoop which is very large and heavy. I gotta say it could be imagined but I do think my waist looks a bit slimmer.

Hopefully after this weekend I'll have some motivation to do hoop dancing again. But until that time I can at least get myself to do something productive.

I started physiotherapy in late November for an old injury I had spent too long ignoring. I was also a lazy bum who had gained more that some "winter cushioning" as Savannah so nicely puts it. By now I'm down about 5lbs, and addicted to going to the gym 2-3 times a week. Things are looking good for me!

My surgical leftover bump is on the way and causes pain. The doc drew a lot of fluid out of it with a bigass needle, but not nearly enough. And I'm do well with the food tracking again, but the scale is resistant to change.

Like Burners.

I just got another walk aerobics vid today. Had just about memorized "leslie's" vid, but it's still working well for me. I just found out real adult hula hoops aren't avail until april, but I know where to buy them now...and when. The one I built is just too heavy for a beginner. Sounds like you're going in the right direction lazerfox. I'm looking forward to learning hooping.

And I got a heart rate monitor.

Thanks!

About adult hoops: you can order them online in various places and it usually takes 2 weeks to get them. Some places already have some pre-made and can mail them to you even sooner! What kind of hoop are you looking into?

Darn right. I started this thread a couple of years ago because so many of us are stuck in sedentary lifestyles "the other 51 weeks". At first I concentrated on bicycling, and I posted snapshots from my rides, but a pinched nerve put an end to that type of bicycling. So now I "ride" a stationary recumbent bike at the gym, and I use the weight equipment there. I also walk a lot more, and I suppose I ought to take pictures on my walks. Anybody else able to take pictures from their fitness activities?

AntiM, sometimes I think 1/2 the battle is just getting to the gym. So you didn't do much, but you did do something and that still counts! :)

Big and light. I have zero experience w actually keeping one aloft, so I don't have much direction on what kind.
So it may come down to just buying one and if I still cant keep one spinning, I'll take it to the playa and get some coaching.

In the interim, I'll just keep marching to the beat. Gonzo and I are currently shopping for a keyboard w drum machine so we can manufacture some good exercise music as well as some pottie-jingles.

Are you willing to purchase one online? I can definitely help you with the process. I know lots of people online who make wonderful hoops at pretty reasonable prices. If you get one without the pretty tape you could spend as little as $10 (+shipping).
Also at first you need it to be on the heavier side as this will make it stick to your body.

thanks but nope. I don't know enough to do this w/o having it in my hands before buying.
I tried the pvc (the one I made) - nope. Weighted - no way. So I'm gonna try going the other direction.

Convincing myself to put my shoes on and walk out the front door is always the hardest part of anything I must do. Get that done, and all is well. :D

You used the 1'' PVC on your body? I'm sorry; I thought I had warned you that was a terrible idea :(

And I definitely did not mean weighted...just a denser tubing. Do the people who make them also talk to you about the best beginner hoops? I can only hope that they can help better than I can from so far away. You deserve to have fun with this and it sounds like it's just been a pain.

I find getting shoes on very difficult indeed. I usually go out without them.

I think the other people at the gym would not approve of me snapping pics. :P

However, I could probably take some when the weather gets warmer. I like outdoor adventures.

Looks like the pictures I posted back then are gone, but they were mostly scenic shots from my walks and rides. That's what I had in mind. Outdoor adventures, yes.

For some deeply bizarre and unidentifiable reason... I recall once seeing a paparazzi photo of Princess Diana working out -- all contorted and grimacing. No need for that here -- unless for the comic value!

The Berg glacier on the back side of Mt. Robson. This is from a week long backpacking trip I did last June. The peak is nearly always hidden by clouds, so I woke up at 7 in the morning to catch this shot.
