Yellow Brick Road?

Postby piehole » Mon Jan 30, 2012 10:28 pm

Probably already been done in a sense

But I think it would be a pretty sweet idea to do a Yellow Brick Road inspired structure, an interactive one that spirals up a story or two to an Emerald City looking terrace overlooking the rest of the Playa. Everybody will get to have their Dorothy moment. There's no place like home!

I wish I was skilled in graphic design but unfortunately it's all up here *points to noggin*.

Has anything like this been done before? Any photos? I perused google and only came back with this:

I'm sure they did something with a yellow brick road of some sort, does anyone have a clue what it was like?

Having done it before hasnt stopped the lamplighters from doing the same thing every year since 1993.

That someone might have done it before should probably not stop you. There are new people on the playa every year. And no one seems to catch more than 20-30% of the city on a given year. A lot of the stories have same/similar landmarks, but someone always has a post-playa story that makes the rest of us say "What? Really? THIS year? Are you sure? Holy CRAP."

A more "reasonable" reason to hold off would be so that you enjoy your first year, and just focus on keeping yourself alive and out of the medical stations. :D Virgins aren't expected to produce, but to participate, clean up after themselves, and let us watch their facial expressions (and otherwise feed greedily off of their sweet, sweet wonder).

If you can swing something else, cool, but don't break your neck. :)

Oh I'm by no means pursuing this at all this year.

I don't even know where to begin, finding an architect, the funding, the people to commit and build and blahblhablhablahalha, no thanks.

I was just a wonderin'

Burning Man isn't about the stuff you see when you get there ....it's about the people that brought that stuff there

I made a new rule for myself whenever I want to do anything creative that seems "new to me".

I don't google it until I have already gotten somewhere with the concept, and at least sketched something out. Then I take a look. That way even though someone has already done it, probably better than I even planned on, my manifestation of the concept is different and unique. There may be nothing new under the sun, but you can always put a new spin on it.

The Yellow Brick Road in Ft. Bragg CA is yellow footprints that go from inside Eggheads Restaurant to outside past
their kitchen to creaky shacks outside that are the bathrooms.
