Some people intentionally bought extra tickets, hoping to resell at a profit, but plenty of others have admitted to ordering extras just because they were afraid of not getting any at all. I'm looking forward to seeing how STEP will work, but in the meantime, here's a simple/stupid thought: what if people were given a chance, one time only -- perhaps in a week or two -- to return any tickets they got that they don't actually want?
Anyone who chose to do this would get a full refund on the ticket price (but not any processing fees) and their ticket would go to the next person in the lottery who wanted a ticket and didn't get one. This might reduce the number of people who have to resell their tickets in STEP, extending the benefits of the lottery system (which does have its benefits) as far as possible before resorting to peer-to-peer sales.

I think you just described... the STEP setup.

I don't care what the borg says: feather-wearers will NOT be served in Rosie's Bar.
When I ask how many burns, I mean at BRC.

Oh, haha, is that how STEP is going to work? Sorry, I guess I didn't notice that they had shared any details on that. I assumed it was gonna be more of a stubhub-type thing.
