The thought of a garden hose up Sham's ass maked me HAPPY. This IS the happy thread, right? All the best, Shammykins - may they find nothing.

Whatever it takes to get you in there, I guess! We want you to be healthy. I love it that you posted about this in the HAPPY thread, btw. I don't know about the state of your colon, but you've got balls of brass, Sham!

(Won't they let you take a pill? Vicodin? Halcyon? I have had both of those for dental work, and they contributed to a wonderful "Not a single f#$% was given that day" mentality. The Halcyon especially; it helps you not form negative memories, whereas the Vicodin wasn't trippy, just more about painkilling.)

While some might enjoy the thought of being corn-holed by a machine, others of us have differing ideas about Happyness.
I told my new beloved that we've only just met and that celebrating Valentine's might be premature. Heehee! She bought it!

The happy part is that they agreed to do this for me. I would never be willingly walking into their office if I knew there was an IV waiting. A pill is a good idea, and I can always change my mind at the last minute and have an IV should I have an epiphany. It's just one of those things!

Hey, if Katie Couric can do it without anesthesia, so can you!

But actually, the anesthesia they use is great! You are out in literally two seconds, you wake up feeling great (i.e. no anesthesia hangover). I definately recommend using the anesthesia method--that's a long, stiff tube they'll be sticking up there.

They left me the option of changing my mind at the last minute. That may work, since it's really the anticipation of the IV that's killing me.

Good for you, Sham.

My guy and I both have our tickets for getting this done. It's just one of those things we never get around to scheduling.... Poo.

I was going to post my favorite fisting lovesong by Tool as foreplay for you, but then realized that it might not be quite as helpful as I'd previously thought.

It'll be fine. Just relax and remember to breathe. Both are kind of key.

Shambalalalala whatever you do DON'T use the flavor packets that come with the clean out juice. Keep that very chilled and use crystal light or some such flavoring per glass. Much much easier that way.

Yup, I need to get this done, and thanks for the good advice. The Crystal Light is a great idea. I picked up the gallon jug of powdered crap today. That looks like some scary stuff. I just hope my bum-bum is not sore from blowing that shit out of me.

Shammy, do the IV. It only stings for a few seconds, and it makes the proceure more pleasant. It'll be done and you'll be out of there before you know it. I'm glad to hear you're having this done.

Hugs and good vibes coming your way!

Happy pill! Happy pill! I'm voting happy pill.

The mere fact that you posted this in the Happy Thread makes it an obvious choice.

Don't forget to ask them if they have Halycon! It's a pill. It feels like a couple glasses of wine but even more serene. Never unconscious, but very unconcerned.

Yikes, I've been off this thread for a while.

Sham, I had this done a short while ago, with anesthesia. The modern IV anesthesia is downright pleasant -- absolutely nothing like the horrible stuff they used up to some years ago. I just laid down on the table and was chatting with the staff.... And next thing I knew I was sitting up feeling downright mahvelous and wondering when they were going to start.

Between the amazingly pleasant procedure, and the general health benefit of flushing out the system, I think they could sell tickets to this experience!

Now, I do understand that a lot of people have needle-phobia. But that needle is so tiny, compared with the ones I donate blood with! Well, if you do it without, then you can tell us how it feels. I think it would be cool to be able to trace, by feel, where the plumbing goes inside there. If we can even feel anything in there?

Anyroad, go for it! :D
