Mmmm-mmm...

My favorite gift was a passionate Birthday kiss!! Sunday morning around 4:00 am, somewhere near the intersection of 3:30 and Venus, a beautiful Canadian man gifted me with a kiss for my 38th birthday and I'll never forget it...

Thank You J.!

Not sure this is really a gift, but...

I was out at the north fence where the Lumerian Dolphin Tribe put up their fish. Hanging on the big fish were a couple of necklaces with a beautiful stainless steel pendant. The front of the pendant is the image of the man and the back has the phrase "Live the playa year round" on it. i plan to wear it until next year, at least.

an incredible gift..

Post by bartolah » Thu Sep 09, 2004 1:10 pm

Some time after the Burn(my first), while walking the Esplanade in an "elevated state" (also for the first time on a particular substance), saying hi to everyone I could and hugging most, I was given the most amazing gift... I came across a group of really sweet people walking the Esplanade and after hugging this beautiful woman in the group who heard of my firsts had her friends(ten or more) all gather around me. She asked me to close my eyes and then had everyone chant my name really quietly and (yes, even more and's) she began to speak these wonderfully affirming and positive mantras to me, about how wonderful this experience was, and how wonderful life was and so much positive, loving and kind words.

It was incredible and I'll remember it always. Thank you kind, wonderful, strangers. You made my first Burn amazing.

I got one of those: I was with a group of people from our village in center Camp and we were getting ready to finally host PJ's @nd Annual Great Semi-Authentic Finnish Wife carrying Contest. Since I had a really bright and vibrant parasol (a gift from the lovely Foam) I was the designated "cone" for the wife-carriers to race around. As I was walkin out to the required distance, a man on a bike rode by and said, "hold out your hand!" So i did, and he handed me necklace just like the one you described. I'm kinda enamored of it.

The coin, community.

Post by dj big E » Fri Sep 10, 2004 10:54 am

Lmao I was finally able to get my coin. After 5 years at bm dj big e has finally got his coin. I was cruising the streets of our city when i came upon a camp striking coins. I watched for a few minutes from the street. I was scared as usual to try and participate. Eventually i asked if i could play. the guy working the machine quickly said yes and told me to choose an ingot. I chose copper anyways i hung around for about an hour shooting the shit learning about the guy that built the press. And his quest for gold, i hope he finds his vein. Anyways I gave my son the coin and he loves it. The gift this camp gave me was way better than a coin. They gave me the gift of belonging. I felt so comfortable wy i was theyre it was pretty remarkable. I just felt like i belonged they're. Thanks alot for the coin and the great memory's. DJ big "E"

My favorite gift this year was the snuggly warm body sharing my sleeping quarters on Wednesday and Thursday nights when it was so damn cold. Having that body next to me was the greatest.

My favorite "gift" was the honor of watching and participating in the dedication, cleansing and ritual one of the temple theme camps.

It was beautiful and over overwhelming. I felt so at peace, so at home, so honored. It is a memory I will never forget, although we were not allowed to take pictures, my pendant which i will wear until the following year and the memory that is etched in my mind forever will aide me to contemplate and reflect on the event

Gifts

Post by mars » Fri Sep 10, 2004 7:22 pm

My favorite gift was seeing the newbies I brought wow-out on their first ride across the playa at night.

My second favorite gift was fuzzy monkey gum from a newbie.

My third favorite gift was Burt's ball in my drink--I didn't eat it, but I sure enjoyed it's floating nature.

My fourth favorite gift were the numerous CD's given to me.

But the best gift of all was getting to be on the playa again, with a heart full of appreciation, an ability to accept the changes, and a willingness to participate on a bolder level.

I consider all gifts to be universal payback for the joy I was willing to express freely.

My favorite gift was from Mayor Joey---the incredible opportunity to start my day and end my day with a ride on the orgasmatron.
I love you Joey.

A handheld green laser that someone found. It was pretty powerful. Looked like it had been modified a bit. We took it apart to see what had been done to make it so bright but the thing wouldn't work again after we put it back together.

Sounds like the Jasper laser from www.bigha.com. I go there to drool over their recumbent bikes, but their green lasers are cool, too!

Had to be the plane ride.... Yep, that was it.

I always heard people say, just go out to the airport someone will take you up... So after 5 years wondering I went out there Friday around 2-3pm... Apparently it was a bit late in the day for the planes to be going up, but my friend Cindy and I had a great time at the Pilots Lounge, and getting "cleared" through customs. Time flew but we didn't, we left a few hours later drunk and happy with the advice of many, "Get here tomorrow morning 7am". I thought HAH! yeah right. Cindy ended up passing out early (afternoon drunks will do that to you) slept at least 12 hours and rose with the sun. Woke me up (I got 2 hours myself, Oi!) and we headed back out. We weren't there for 10 minutes when a nice Pilot named Tim peeked in the dome we were chillin in and said "anybody want a ride?"

It's that easy folks, and AMAZING... of course!

Had to write again cuz I can't believe I didn't think of the BEST gift in the world when i was writing before....

The very best gift was the Rangers showing up just in time to avert major disaster in the 8:30/Saturn area. Our neighbors' RV was on fire in the middle of the night and their doors were locked and no one was around and they were surrounded by other RV's and cars and no people anywhere to move anything away, and I swear this thing was just getting ready to blow, you could see plumes of propane in the fire and all we had were two little fire extinguishers that were not going to help at all...and the Rangers showed up, with the utmost of preparedness and professionalism and they put out the fire before anyone was hurt.

I'm telling you, this could have been a MAJOR disaster. We later found out there was a woman in the RV right next to it and she had headphones on listening to music and didn't hear us banging on her door. She would have been the first to go...

Reminder...not a bad idea for people to bring fire extinguishers along with First Aid kits.

Black Rock Rangers Rock!!!!!!!!
Thanks for being there! :D

mmmm, my favorite was the invite to dinner by the camp next door for some shrimp/lobster paella. yummy yummy yummy. Also the crappaccino guy way out past the temple, and the snowcones at neptune & 8:30-9ish, and the german sausage hot off the bbq over on the other end of neptune (what a great street).

Love all the trinkets and really adore the HUGE purple bead string and the stretchy maraboa and the polished stone egg and all the magnets and the troll doll and the polaroids. Each thing is a memory and a connection and they make me smile and remember a great place and wonderful people.

The gifts (things) I'm really enjoying right now:

-a little bell on the blue ribbon from the temple of stars (I think) that says 'Guardian Angel' on it. It's hanging from the mirror in my truck, and whenever it rings, it's my angel saying hello. I found it on the road on front of my camp. Yeah ground score!

-a light blue pipecleaner man with a bead on his waist that I got from a nice couple camped somewhere around Jupiter and 8 to 10. I learned to fire dance on Saturday, and found it him my truck just as I was heading out. I kept him in my pocket while I learned, to channel the burn for my first poi experience, then I took him out dancing and partying all night long, and introduced him to a bunch of my friends...who laughed at me but only in the most affectionate way.

i got a small glass bottle of playa dust circa 1999...but the string it was on was too small for my grossly mishappen head and broke when i put it on...two days later my new big sister gave me a hemp and wooden bead necklace to hang the bottle from...it has become my favorite gift...and i only take it off when i shower
i also got a red blinky light from a Undercover operative...strange the things u choose to hold on to...

A bronze pendant necklace thing. Nothing on one side and the likeness of the man and "2004" on the other side. Not too big either.

I like it a lot and have worn it a few times since getting back.

The best gifts....

Post by angelface » Wed Sep 29, 2004 2:19 pm

The best gifts this year were our fantastic neighbors.. Black Rock Spatial Delivery on one side and the Temple of Revery on the other.. all of us exchanged extra food (sushi on the playa, thanks Revery kids, Thai on the playa, thanks BRSD), help, hugs, kisses, and a feeling that someone was watching out for us even when we were away from camp. Also, enjoyed the tower that BRSD had set up, got some great pictures from up there.

Oh, and the mystery guy that dug the trench for our power cords with the gas powered trencher thingy and just wanted a can of cold soda in return.. I don't know if he had any idea how much that made our day (and saved us several hours of work in the hot sun), and what a great impression he made on the virgin camped with us :)

I'm fond of my Alien Monkey Love Nest pendant too, but I traded a friend something for it, rather than "earning" one in the more traditional fashion :)
