You're still talking about loading how many tons at the "station" bringing it to the city, and to the right people in the right place in the city and unloading it. Have you ever spent two days looking for a friends camp at a provided address and when you do find it just stand there with your jaw dropped because you passed it a half dozen times?

And doing this with the sort of speed you need...
Ironically, I love trains, and I'm always happy to boost Amtrak and other rail solutions. But if you want mass transit to work, you've got to have large crowds for months if not for the entire year. Otherwise it's a huge, resource dependent infrastructure that costs $100,000 to get one person to the playa.

(Okay, I don't actually know the order of magnitude involved. Ten thousand seems too small, a million seems ridiculous, but I don't really have a plan to figure out the numbers.)
