Here is a thread that is in power and Illumination:http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... 78&t=40250
I know people bring sensitive electronics out there, but I still feel the same way: if you would be upset if something got ruined, do not bring it to the playa.

The dust doesn't "settle" so much as clings, all the time. Don't think house dust, think an explosion of a bag of flour, or a bottle of baby powder.

as I remember it from last year the dust flies around 24/7, at night it is just dark and you don't see it, but if you look into a beam of light the dust looks like rain on a muggy day.

Or get a separate set of gear just FOR the playa, and clean the crap out of it when you get off playa.AntiM wrote:The dust doesn't "settle" so much as clings, all the time. Don't think house dust, think an explosion of a bag of flour, or a bottle of baby powder.

high power speakers suck playa dust into the cabinet, through any opening, including the cone material. Playa dust is abrasive, alkaline, and corrosive and will eat voice coils.

put your equipment in a dishwasher.
run the cycle.
if your equipment still works it will survive the playa.

Or blast it with a fire extinguisher and see how much of it settles and how hard it is to clean out. Playa is just a 1/2 a hair heavier than extinguisher dust.
When the only tool you got is a hammer, every problem looks like a hippie.

Okay, what are you doing with a turntable? Scratching? And you're worried about dust?
